AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
I'm not going to get in on this debate about what cars are worth a dar n or not, it's pointless to argue with ppl who don't know what they are talking about, but..
I have the review along with dyno charts from a 2003 cobra here.. not cobra R.
According to this after then took the plastic airbox out and put just a simple k&N and then a bassani h-pipe with cats and followed through with bassani all the way trough the tail pipes they got that cobra up to 400 horsies and 375ft/lbs of torque.
Now I may be wrong, but for a 3800 pound car that's pretty darn fast? am I right? not to mension the price tag on those 400 horsies was only the price of hte vehicle and about 300$ of aftermarket parts.
I doubt you have take any import and make it into a torgue monster like that... but less for less then 300$ on top of the sale price?
Heat yeah it may be best in the 1320 but last time I checked the world is not made up of straight roads only. I have no doubt that the domestics with large bore and stroke engines reign supreme in the 1320 but thats not all there is is what I am saying. All of the protoype grand am racers use independant mutlilink rear ends because they are the best for the corners, but nearly all powerhoused domestics lack this. HP isnt the number you are looking for either its the p/w ratio that counts and thats why take for instance a road test of a lotus elise (with integra gt-r engine) and a cobra type-r. In the test the cobra got beat in every catagory just because the p/w ratio was there with the elise. Also you will never get huge amounts of torque out of a small displacement engine. You can however sqeeze out more revs allowing for a greater hp level and usable powerband. I personally love getting planted at 3k by 15+lbs of boost then an initial jerk caused by gobs of torque. Its all personal preference anyway. If you want a no brained solution to the 1320 get a ford or chevy with a windsor / cleveland and go from there, but if you love the corners, imports generally rein out of the box.
Shartly: I see your point and agree with you, but anytime you get someone saying my domestic is best or my import is, this debate comes up. Much like the cocker / mag user ones do. I just like to throw my support into the debate for the import tuners is all. Oh and I would take an R-390 anyday over the F1-Mac, but thats just because of my love for the best nissans.
Originally posted by Gotenks toyota supra for example, 3.something litre engine, and with 15,000-20,000 dollars in performance parts, and knowledge of tuning and yada yada, you can make a 800-1000+ horsepower street car, that will outhandle any mustang going just as fast in a drag race. And it would probably be more reliable too
ROFLMAO!! So, you'll need to buy a USED car for $40k then dump 20k in order to make it out handle and faster than a Mustang?? Don't you find it odd that a 1989-1994 Stang can be acquired for under 10k, modded to handle and produce skull-crushing power and sidesplitting handling for another 15-20k? Yes, suspension mods that turn a Mustang into a twisty monster DO exist.
Power to weight ratio? Mustangs are lighter than a T Supra.
Reliability?? Those 800hp Supras you worship are NOT. I don't car who's name is stamped on the side, prolonged revs (where power is) to 8k WILL DESTROY ANY ENGINE.
every now and then you have to replace the piston rings and the cylinder sleeves, not the whole engine.
and when you do that, check for wear on the crank, bearings, etc.
You can't call me a newb, I've rebuilt a supra engine before, and if I had a 1000+ horsepower 2JZ under the hood of my supra, I would know how to maintain it.
I'm not even going to argue to you about suspension, I guess you can have your opinions.
and to shartley, I would like to apologize, I didn't mean to turn this into a flame war...
Hell I have no hate against domestic companies, I have much respect for FORD RACING, as in formula 1, rally, etc. Not to into their street cars much.
Hell, my dream garage consist of a lingenfelter corvette and a honda nsx-r.
Sorry for turning this into a heated argument, lets all just stop before the thread truly gets ruined and needs to be closed.
(psst shartley you mentioned the mclaren f1, do you know what a bugatti veyron is? phew )
my sister's boyfriend's car, no engine work just an intake and a exhaust(flowmaster)and he is going to do a motor swap and do some work on it. by the way the next post will be my car and the list of mod's i am going to do to it. and i already have saved the money to do the mod's to it.
exhaust
gut catylitic
intake(same time as exhaust)
big tachometer
header's
computer
strut bar's
lower the car
short shifter
bore the engine over a few
port and polish
nitrous if i get money
15 inch wheel's
body kit
maybe spoiler(i doubt it)
the car may look ugly but they are hella light and they can be made quick plus i have to stay true to honda because every car my mom and dad brought me up in was a honda.
86 accord (dad wrecked it doing 133, not injured he suped it up before import's became the big thing....wrecked it in 94 by the way)
94 oddysey (traded it in toward's the accord)
96 accord sedan champagne ( this is our only car right now)
now me with a 90 civic hatch i will perfect what my dad tried and shartley don't worry i will only race at the track.....or a wide open space

I like both imports and old demostics. My position is this:
If I'm building a drag car, of course I'll go old with a V8. I like MOPAR, so of course the baddest would be a 426 hemi.
If I want a daily driver I would much rather have something with a B18C1 or C5. Why? I dont want to spend all $$$ on gas.
Also I would like to add that the most powerful production engine in the world is...........**the 2.0L DOHC 4 cylinder out of a S2000**. WOW, isn't that amazing? Because it's based on power/displacement ratio. 240 hp/122 cu. in.= 1.967 hp/ci. Or 120 horse power per liter. Also the first production car to make 100hp/L was the......any guesses?......B16 out of a 94 Honda del sol VTEC.
**And by the way, I found that in Super Chevy, ya know the magazine**
LX minimag
Good Traders- TXStorm, snakestang,
Bad Traders- none, thank god
Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.
