**Friend needs help w/ his car**

Allright car "Junkies" here we go,

My friend has a '91 Nissan NX 2000 and he needs to find new front seats. He wants Balck OR Tan bucket seats, WITH 5 or 4 point seat belts. He also wants a turbo kit(?). Dont know if they make it for that model, but ooookkk... and he also wanta a muffler that will make the car barely legal (there are ILLEGAL MUFFLERS?!?!?!) One that makes the car have a "loud throaty sound" (exact words). That will be all for now, but for me, can you think of any upgrades for my car? (Honda Accrod Luxary '96) Thanks guys.

Sparco and MOMO make extremely nice "racing" seats for imports. Expect to pay $600+ per seat....hardly a bargain.

You can have a turbo put on ANY car with enough money. I don't think there's a "bolt-on" turbo kit out for a NX2000 considering it's not exactly a popular rice boy vehicle. The only way to "boost" his car is to take it to a custom shop and whip out the old golden check book.

Characteristics that make a muffler illegal are: Extreme sound (120db+), smog restrictions (straight pipes/lack of cat), and anything that spews flames on a regular basis.

You can't find upgrades for a Honda? The sky is the limit for anything bearing the notorious H. Take a look around. Everyone and their brother makes aftermarket Honda parts.

        Nissan

If he's got the SR20DE, DOHC motor then there's lots of upgrades. Turbo included. Since its a 1991 I think there's a good chance he has this motor. With a four cylinder you'll never really get a throaty sound. High revving turbo whine sounds pretty good on its own though. I've got a turbo car with very unrestricted exhaust (lets just say there's no emissions test in Michigan.)

For 5 or 6 point harnesses you really need a roll cage. You can attach the upper belts to the lower rear seat mounts, but this pulls the belts down over you shoulders. If you're in a crash the belts can compress your spine and leave you paralysied. You need a roll cage to mount the belts to so the upper belts turn up off your shoulder. Also, stock three point harness are better in a crash. They distribute your energy through your sternum. The shoulder links of 5 or 6 point harness don't cross you sternum and crashing with them is like someone holding you shoulder and kicking you in the back. My father raced in the SCCA and had a bad crash a few years ago. 5 point harness hold you in the seat in the turns, but don't feel good in a crash. For the street, use the regular 3 point belts.

Wish I could race this summer, but I'm stuck in Minnesota
