actually, there was a Windows 1, and a Windows 2. but i dont think that they were very popular because they were so hard to use.

My fiances G4 Mac w/OS9 crashes all the time...compared to my XP/2000 machines. OSX seems really cool, and she would switch to it but only if she had native versions of the software she uses.
If apple would port OSX for PCs I would switch right away. But they wont, cause they are a bunch of damn tree hugging hippies, who just want to sell you a pretty looking box.

windows me on my main box, stable for a year so far, thats with heavy everyday use. running VB, Jbuilder, VisualC++ playing all sorts of games and so on.
windows 98/redhat7.2 dual boot on my p2 box downstairs. both stable as ever, no problems.
            p166 running redhat 6.2
macintosh quadra running os7, runs great for its age. do a lot of word processing and printing with it.

Hey now, I wasn't mad at all. lol. MAC hardware has yet to catch up with PC hardware in allot of areas. But my statement that a PC couldn't handle what I do with my MAC was a bit loaded, I'm a Graphic Designer. That makes me part of MACs Niche demographic, and is the one area where MACs are generally considered superior.

IMHO they outperform PC's at most tasks. My Dual processor G4 smokes my 1.9 Ghz PC at just about everything, convincingly.
