Hmm, that's odd. I'm Polish/Irish, and have brown hair.
Oh, and I can't listen to the song "Amazing Grace" played on the bagpipes without thinking of my Uncle John (He was a State Trooper who retired, then died one day of a heart attack in the middle of gridlock traffic).

Dropkick Murphy's is Irish Punk. There are TONS of good Irish Punk bands out there. Dropkick Murphys are one of the better ones, though, I'll admit. The Pogues and the Skels are two other good ones.
Black 47 is an awesome Irish rock/reggae band with a lot of traditional irish music influence. They had a hit a few years ago with Funky Ceili (Bridie's Song), you may remember it if you hear it.
The Prodigals are a GREAT band out of NYC who call thier style "jig-punk". They are one of my favorite Irish bands.
Gaelic Storm is a VERY good traditional irish band. You may remember them from their role in Titanic as the irish band in steerage. They are out of California. I've seen them play, they are great.
For anyone who is near Montreal or plans on visiting, find Hurley's Pub, and go see Salty Dog. They are an AWESOME traditional irish band. My cousins are regulars at Hurleys, I've met the band before (they actually played at my cousins wedding), and they put on the best show of any irish band I've ever seen.
Also, if you ever find anything by a band called the Moonshine Mountain Boys, download it/buy it. They an irish band from the 70's or so who pretty much dissapeared, but if you can find any of thier music, its great. When they sing "Black and Tan" it makes me want to go drag manike out of his house and beat him senseless
I guess you could say I'm a fan

When talking about Irish (frequestly called "celtic") music, One name jumps right to the front. Christy Moore. He is the one of the best Irish folk singers ever to record. If you like live stuff, just listen to his "Live At The Point" album. You can find a bunch of his music on Kazaa.
A new band with a strong "celtic" feel is Carbon Leaf. They are much more "rock" then Christy. You can download two of their albums right here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...709515-7003247"Relax. Don't worry. Have a Home Brew."
