    Cable at its best

I was under the impression i had a 350kB/sec max download speed on my cable modem. Well today, i made a discovery and i was wrong, check this out. I apologize for the size, its about 135kb but i made it a JPEG already, and i dont know what else to do.

Yep, thats ALMOST 500kb/sec, so damned close.

You lucky Son-of-a-Gun. All I have is a 26.4K connection.
    Why, you ask. Simple:

BECAUSE VERIZON WON'T EXTEND DSL SERVICE A LOUSY 3 MILES

    Sorry, just a little venting.

you might wanna check out pcpitstop.com. It's a great site that runs some tests on your computer and shows you many speeds and capabilities of your computer including your download and upload speeds along with your ping.

I know how you feel slateman...I can only connect at 28.8k right now due to living in the mountains but check out ISDN, thats usually available for everyone..including me! so i'm gonna order that today, i'll connect at 128k from now on, which i know doesn't compare to dsl or cable..but when you get nothin, anything will do
