    Post Office people stealing MOs?

has anyone worked at the post office before? I'm just curious about how easy it is for someone working there stealing someone's MO. Almost two months ago, i sold my Dark Angel. I sent it COD, and yes i know the guy has had the marker for over a month and that meens he has paid over a month ago. Since the big COD sticker says exacly how much the MO is, isn't it kind of easy for the mail man or other post office employe to steal the MO? I meen i know its not really likely for them to loose my money so really the only situation i can think of is someone stealing my money right?

Tomorrow when i send my LCD frame to get the board replaced to TheAngelGuy at the Post Office, i'm gonig to do some big time complaining about my lost money.

After a month, you are just now complaining about the HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS you are missing?! How much money do you have! For crying out loud, I WANT TO BE RICH! I would have been freaking out at 1 week, but 1 month...?!

my brother's MO was probably stolen that way ... or else XspyX has it.

he sent the money over 2 weeks ago and spy hasn't gotten it yet or that's what he says anyway.

well, i did call the post office and everything after a week but they told me to keep my pants on cuz COD ususally takes a while. They say it takes upto a month. From that i figure something is wrong if i still havn't gotten it after a month.

It's not really easy to steal a money order as long as the guy you sold it to addressed it to you since MO's can only be cashed in the persons name it's addressed to. If he just handed the post office guy a blank money order, than it's anybody's for the taking. Contact the guy you sold the stuff to and see what he did, and if he got the postal service guy's name. Also see if he kept the money order receipt incase you need to make a claim on it to see if it was cashed or not to give you an answer.

Money order is almost like a check in that only the person you make it out to can cash it except the money order is good for cash and doesn't need to clear like a check. The MO is good for protection and for quick sales.

I sent a box with my old superbolt and a cashiers check for ~$120 to AGD July 3 and it still hasn't arrived. I did not buy insurance. I can get my money back on the check but I'm screwed on the bolt.

I worked fo rthe post office for a while and I can tel you for a fact that COD's are almost impossible to steal. There's a paper trail a a mile long for the carriers who have to deliver it. First they have to sign that they received it. Next they have to scan the item or enter it into their handheld recorders as attempted or delivered. Following that assuming it's delivered, they have to give the cash to the head clerk, who will "clear" them on the item and print up an MO so it can go out the next day. If it's not delivered, then the carrier get's a cleared receipt stating that the item was returned to the PO. So what you need to do is to call the post office with the tracking number assigned to the package, adn they will be able to tell you the money order info as well as whether or not the MO has been cashed. One tip though, DON'T CALL THE 800 number to the post office they're a bunch of idiots. Just call your local office and ask to speak with the Customer Servie Manager, tell them what happened WITHOUT GETTING ANGRY, they're on your side, and they should be able to resolve the issue for you.
                        I hope this helps,
                        Stu

Stu, thanks for the information. But if thats true how do packages get lost or whatever?

The Post Office lost my friend's Dark Angel LCD once sometime around last year. He insured it for luckily he insured it for 1000 bux and got it back, although it was worth around $1500 at the time.

Letters get lost once in a while. My dad runs a buisness so lots of mail flows in and out. At least twice he has gotten bits and pieces of letters, in a neat little baggy from the PO, postmarked months and months ago. Sometimes they just fall behind a table, or get sucked into a machine never to return. I imagine it wouldn't be impossible for a label on a package to be ripped or destroyed and get put on the wrong flight the same day. Crap happens, get insurance its only a few bucks. For payments I say use an online service. There are several and the charges are minimal considering the possible outcomes of using the PO.

I am 14, and I keep my receipts. I had some in my wallet from taking money out of my savings account like 6 months ago until i put them on my desk.. and my mom threw them away..
