    The Scorpion King

Last night my girl and I went to this theater that is three blocks from our house. They play movies that have been out for four or five months already, but the admission is only 2 bucks. It's the kind of place that you don't feel bad about leaving your popcorn mess on the floor.

Anywho, we saw the scorpion king. I kind of sucked. I was waiting for the Roc to pull out a folding chair and start smashing people with it at any given moment. The movie was just full of wrestling innuendos. There was even one part at the end of the movie that the Roc smashed a table. Cheasy.

That flick was all about trying to make "The Rock" into Conan the Barbarian. Actually, that is rather ironic since film producers had a new, updated version of the Conan series on the table. They were going to call it Conan: The Resurection or something like that, and they're first casting idea was "The Rock" for the part. That wouldn't work out because The Rock has too much personality for a Conan. Conan was all about being a stone cold killing machine.

"See my enemies crushed before me and hear the lamentation of their women."

I don't know if they still plan on making the new Conan flick though. The best part about The Scorpion King was Kelly Hu. She is MAD HOT! Whoa!

I agree. When I saw the previews I thought it would be about some "king" reclaiming his kingdom or something. But then when I saw the movie (still have not finished it.. got tired and went to bed) it reminded me of The Rock trying to be Conan.

The action was okay, but I really like The Rock and wanted to see them take advantage of his personality. Conan will ALWAYS be the ultimate barbarian, but that was because he was scripted with few lines and drew from his physique over his "acting" and speaking abilities. He was the likeable powerhouse, but not someone you would want to help you with your homework, or sit next to at a black tie affair. (Note: these comments were about the character, not the actor.)

The Rock on the other hand has a totally different feel to him. And I was disappointed that they did not take full advantage of it. I hope the ending is better than the part that I have already seen..... all and all though, it was not a bad movie so far.... just not what I "thought" it was going to be.

I liked it. It had action, adventure, comedy, and Kelly Hu! Granted, there were some scenes that needed work, but overall, I'd see it again. I'm more than likely going to buy it on DVD when it comes out.
