    intelectual property

    i have been toying around with the idea of opening up some of the projects i am currently working (seeing that i do not have the resources to mass produce/market them) on in my spare time to help out the little guy, have a collection of works to show potential future employers,share ideas, gain respect.....

    if anyone else has done this, or thought about this. how do you protect your intelectual property (don't care about people using it for non-profit, but some company stealing it to make a buck). and i suppose there are always thoes out there that would like to hold me responcible if some idiot hurts himself with my ideas.

    are there any other concerns that i should have about opening up my work?
    As society and the problems that face it become more and more complex and machines become more and more intelligent, people will let machines make more of their decisions for them, simply because machine-made decisions will bring better results than man-made ones. Eventually a stage may be reached at which the decisions necessary to keep the system running will be so complex that human beings will be incapable of making them intelligently. At that stage the machines will be in effective control. People won't be able to just turn the machines off, because they will be so dependent on them that turning them off would amount to suicide

    sometimes I just freaking hate people. which means the next day I will love them for the sake of balance, but right now I will just concentrate on the hating. Hate hate hate. Blaaaarg! ;)

    turborev - with ai like this, if it controlled any more than a paddle, it would kill you and everyone you care about. ;)

    As part of protecting your ideas, you need to have a way of proving when you conceived of them. Well kept engineering notebooks are common in many corporations. For the individual, write down your ideas and mail them to yourself. When you get the mail you sent, take the unopened envelope(s) and put it in a safe deposit box at a bank. You now have a federal timestamp for your ideas. Not bad for 34 (37?) cents.

          anyone in FRIENDLY CORNER have any ideas about protecting your ideas that you would like to post and descuss in DEEP BLUE?
