Bahahahahahahahahaha! Something just doesn't seem right about a Wal*Mart computer...

I have a link to an interesting article I'll try to find... Meh... To hard, it was entitled "Fun at K-Mart" although the situation contained therein could be applied to any "Mart"

They are also coming out with machines without an OS on them and some with I think mandrake.. (or is it redhat..)

Microsoft is getting all pissy too because M$ thinks that their operatiog system will end up on 9/10 of all the machines anyways so they think it sould come installed.. those damn money whore.. they are really self confident too...

I think it is a very good idea. the Open source project is busting out some great software for linux.. you can now haev a fully functional linux desktop with all teh important office application that you would otherwise have to pay for on windows.

Lindows is actually a San Diego based company that's trying to created a Linux Distro that will enable you to run Windows programs. The cheapest Wall Mart Special goes for $299 and comes with an AMD Duron 850, 128MB SDRAM, 10GB hard drive and I think a plain ol' CD-ROM drive...doesn't even come with a floppy...they had a write up on it in the local paper (because it's a local company)..the computers are made by a company called MicroTel...they said the thing ran slow as a goat and the documentation was like 6 pages copied with a xerox machine and then folded in half and stapled in the fold...
