how do i find files i just downloaded?

i have windows xp
i just donwloaed halflife something 1.1.0.1???
i dont remeber it asked to continue or cancel i had to cancel to close my windows as some stupid logo filled my screen and now i cant find teh file help please

goto ye'old find file or folders

type in some part of the filename you remember and put a * in for a wildcard....

if you know the extension of the file that really helps.... as an example... you said halflife sumthin-sumthin.... so put in halflife*.* and scroll through the files it brings up....

other then that... you'll have to try to remember what the default d/l directories are for the different programs you may use....

edit: opk i just reread your post and saw you have xp.. .so you have the real funky find file/folder menu.... so that makes it a little more fun... as i have yet to do a proper search with XP.... but it should work on the same principal... worse comes to worse do the search from the dos promt..... dir <filename or part of>*.* /s/p

that is the extreme long way as it searches all you subdir's cuz of the /s... the /p just pauses after each full screen....

boy i miss the dayz of DOS life was much simpler then =)

You may want to look in My Documents/ My Downloads (either by right off your desktop, or using MY Computer. But remember that you can not just go to WINDOWS any more, you have to go to Document and Settings, pick your user account, and then navigate (that is if it is the same as XP Pro).
