punk is pretty much not caring about what other people think of you and expressing yourself in your own way, also there are working class punks, but i'm a combo of skater/worki9njg class punk.

Punk is to each his own.

What does it matter if green day is punk if you like it...?

The whole idea of punk is it be open minded towards others ideas AND, if not more important, to be your self. Do what you like, listen to what you like, dress like you like. Sorta a modern day hippy.

Course punk is just a generalisation fo somethine that everyone tries to be, but isn't.

I consider myself somewhat punk. I am VERY openminded, but that doesn't mean I don't resent what ppl do. If you wanna get drunk, be a hoe, and do drugs, fine. It's not going to make me hate you or quit being your friend. But I think it's wrong and I don't do it. I'm being myself in that way. Do you get it? I listen to my music based on what I like. Just so happens that alot of it bears the label of punk and more specifically christian punk.

I dress how I like, it's not uncommon to see me in a 400$ suit. While sometimes I just feel like baggy jeans, a t-shirt with flames and vans. I do what I like to do, listen to what I like to listen to, and dress with what I like to dress in.

Least that's the way I see it. Feel free to pick at it.

punk is lifes "none of the above"
Punk can be fast and loud like AFI and 30 foot fall
or it can be mello and gentle like Sublime and good charolette. It can also be very mainstream like B-182 and Greenday. It started out back when the music couldnt be classified in another group. Bands like Sex Pistols, Black Flag and others got things going, Also there were bands like 7 seconds and The clash and band that were called "New Wave" in the early to mid 80's, next was the wave of bands that became mainstream punk. Bands like AFI, Bad Religion, NOFX, Operation Ivy (Rancid), Lag Wagon, Ten Foot Pole, Pennywise, Face to Face, Now there is a new generation on punk bands like Greenday, The Offspring, B-182, and bands like that. Punk is whatever you want to call or label it. Punk is everything, yet it is also nothing. If you want a good song to listen to about punk and how it doesnt fit into the "radio" society listen to the song "Please play this song on the radio" by NOFX off the "White trash two heebs and a bean" CD.

Punk began as a revolt against the "establishment" of the music and goverment politics of the time. Punk then meant, to dress in a way that would shock the public, piss off your parents, make your teachers wide eyed, and purposely disrespect everything for no real reason.

Problem is, as with anything, once a "movement" gets to be popular, it too becomes the establishment.

You guys with the spikes and colors in your hair, think that's anything new or special? blah, I did that back in....1977!! I saw Sid Viscious and the Sex Pistols when they played a little club in Ventura in 1978. Guess what? We dressed in torn jeans, spike hair, leather jackets, and bad shoes!

If you call yourself a punk today, phooey! You are POSERS

                    Army-been there, moshed that.......OI!

Let me define what I think punk is... Its pretty much, being different, or rebelling, and complaining about how the government sux, and the system, and its about smokin weed and partying and drinking... and ya, thats what Iv heard from punk and noticed from the people that are "punk" and I guess its also about being yourself, even if that is different.

And punk music, well it seems its talking about the obove, and yelling while doing it... and it pretty much all sounds the same... kinda like how most R&B sounds the same...
You smell like dookie... No really though.
