Who makes the swiss army Knife?

I always thought Vitronox was the maker of the swiss army knife, i had always assumed there symbol shaped in that wierd not a box shape for a reason. Well yesterday i bought a Wenger. It has the swiss army cross oinside of a box. It said congradulations on purchasing the origional swiss army knife. I was like cool! its really cool lookin to. The body is all stainless, no plastic red grip panels for me! juts wondering which oine is realy the ream mcoy

Ya, I noticed that too! I not sure at all, I think Vicnornox became Wenger. But like i said before, I'm not sure.

I actually researched this before. Got into a "disagreement" about which company is the OFFICIAL Swiss Army knife. The answer? Both. Yep...although Victorinox was the first to make the knives for the swiss army. I always refer to them as the official, but Wegner can also make that claim.

beam i just researched, its pretty interesting. Vitronox was the first to make it, but wenger came about and was made in the french corridor while the other was made in the german corridor, the swill army split the contract between the two and this is how it is now. Vitronix is origional, wenger is the genuine. dosnt much matter. I like my wenger, and there a good company, there stuff seems sturdier then the swissarmy knife i had. Much sturdier than that chineese knock off i used to have!

You can in fact be neutral, and have an army. Even isolationists are strong advocates of a defensive military.

magman007-- that's right...Victorinox is original...Wegner is genuine. i think you're right about the quality too. I have a couple victorinox and the other guy's wegner was just as nice. I like how crisp they are when they are new.

Being swiss(family coming from Bern), I'd be happy to answer your question, Victorinox and Wegner both are offical swiss army knives, although Vics are more widely used and known(I think their a higher quality too)

There is an interview with a swiss guy with the most annoying accent EVER on TLC. He is some part of the company that makes them, although I wasn't paying attention any of the 100 times they mentioned the company's name sorry

ok, o gotta hand the quality to wenger. There scizors actually work. There not a cheep filament spring that breaks after 3 cuts, its a really unique idea, and smart swiss they are, they patented it

Yup - they both supply the swiss army with their knives.

And they are required to serve in the military and get to keep both thier knives and rifles.. SO every family in Switzerland has and has been trained to use a rifle
