    Bye Opie and Anthony...

    Sucks they are gone.

If you dont like it, dont listen to it. If enough people dont like it, it will be cancelled. Who the heck is the Catholic League to try to enforce what I should be listening to?

God I hate that people think they know more about how to run my life than me, even worse is when they act on it...

Its going to be tough to keep religion out of this one, but if you are going to respond please try. Keep it to the facts, that the Catholic League pushed the FCC into investigating, and WNEW fired O&A rather than spend the money on the laywers to fight it. Dont bring up anti-religious stuff, we can simply say other people running your life STINKS!

Maybe by firing them they were doing them a favor. Now everyone is going to want them on their station.Which will get them better job offer. Sought of like a banned music video. Once you're told u cant have everyone wants.

O&A knew it could happen, it's not the first time they've been fired for doing a stupid stunt.

They brought it on...and lost. Boo-hoo, cry to someone that cares.

You are complaining about the Catholic League for getting them booted? How about the fact that they disrespected St Patrick's Cathedral, and all those who worship there. I'm not religous by any means, but at least I have enough common decency not to desecrate any person's place of worship.

What type of gun was used to make the couple have alleged sex, they never mentioned it? I bet it was an Angel.

They better not end up on Krock, I can't stand those guys.

The only person who belongs on Krock is the original, Howard.

Im glad they are off the air, they ruined WNEW.

I was a huge fan of them when they were on WAAF. I was mad when they got fired from there, but this time I think they went a little to far this time and now they gotta pay.

That right there is a perfect example with what is wrong with this country, no one has any damn respect for any one else or thier property.

For another lesson in lack of respect from idiots look here: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...hreadid=123984

Well, they were cool till they left Boston. Then they did nothing but trash talk the guys who gave them their career. I really dont like them at all anymore. They got what was coming to them.

And I think I should have been more broad when I placed the blame. Its NOT just the Catholic League, its the FCC, and WNEW, and my fellow citizens who keep supporting overpowerful government agencies and a massivly bloated legal system.

So there are lots of people who are partially to blame, definatly including O&A. But just because they got what they deserved (I'm surprised they lasted so long) doesn't mean I cant be upset they are gone.

The "incident" was not the final reason they were let go by Infinity. They were let go by the management (along with the Program Director and maybe somebody else) to appease the FCC. A violation of this scale outside of the 'safe harbor' period could result in the loss of the broadcast license. Infinity would lose millions of dollars if this happens, so they made a premptive move. They can now say to the FCC "Look, it's taken care of, it'll never happen again, cross my heart and hope to die." They'll probably still end up with a fine, but I think their license is safe.

The FCC has been taking a lot of criticizm ever since deregulation in the 90's. There are more stations, fewer owners and fewer people monitoring the airwaves. They're going to look at this as an opportunity to make a statement, which will probably be a six- to seven-figure statement (fine).

I do feel bad for O&A... to a point. In this day of deregulated radio jocks are often told "push the envelope, be proactive, do what you need to get those ratings". Management often backs these statements with promises to support their employees and their innovations. Then, when the crap hits the fan, they shrink into a corner, pointing the finger at everyone else and says "They did it! We told them not to!" That's unfortunately what happens with stock price means all, and high ratings means high advertising income.

                        Guess where I work?

I listened to them and never liked them so I turned to another station. However, since they crossed the line and did a stunt that was in the public eye where I cannot turn them off, then they deserve what they get.
