    Major League Baseball

I'm just curious about everyone's opinions on the upcoming strike.

    Here' mine:

Baseball (in particularly Bud Selig) is being stupid. They've just come from one of the most exciting World Series in probably 20 years and they go and pull this strike crap. That, coupled with the All-Star game fiasco, makes me mad. I've been trying to defend baseball to all my friends and everything I've accomplished will be shot if the players strike. If they strike I definatly won't go to a game for, at least, a very long time. I probably won't even watch a game on TV.

I would rather watch the Little Leauge World Series.

haha I was talking with my mom and dad about it and my mom felt that if there was a strike to screw the players now/fire them all, and just bring up the guys form the minors....Think about it...Here we have the best ball playerds in the world, and yet they still make more money in a year or maybe even an at-bat than a family will ever make.....this stuff really just ticks me off....oh yeah, GO KENTUCKY!

Man if they strike I'm gonna be pissed. The Angels and Dodgers are both playing good ball. Best I've seen the angels perform ever. Of course I never really paid a lot of attention to them til I moved out this way.
            Sorry, I'm old

Major League Baseball is probably the most corrupt sport of all the sports in the USA. Owners want more money, players want more money, and even the commisionr Bud Selig wants more money. They're already the highest paid athletes, and for what? If you ask me, they are WAY overpaid for what they do, some of them don't even break a sweat in a game. And then we have the commisioner trying to sell this whole crap to Congress that there losing half a trillion dollars a year. And then the whole contraction thing, it's baseball saying "hey we have a losey thing, so let's get rid of it." They could easily just move these teams, many cities like Washington D.C. or even Charlotte,N.C. have good fan support. But of course leave it to Bud Selig to think not to, this guy became commisioner just cause he was the owner who was with his team the longest? Jeesh, makes you wonder (not to mention the team he owned was terrible, the Brewers). If he couldn't manage a team, how can he manage a league? Both the owners and the players need to come to an agreement and make a salary cap. If not, baseball isn't going to get anymore interesting. The same teams will keep winning, and the same ones will keep losing (although I don't mind the Braves constant winning ) If the strike happens and it cancels the World Series, I hope fans don't forget.

You know, I'm really against this whole strike thing but my mom said she watched outside the lines today on espn and there was this pro football player, i forget his name like schmidt or something, not shure....anyways this guy had a great career, ended it short cause he said he'd rather walk away than limp away or somethin..anyways i guess he feels agrees with what is going on in baseball....the point that had the bigest impact on me was how we piss and moan on these ball players (not that we shouldnt) and we forget how people like actors and actresses make millions on dollars for just a shoot of a movie or tv show, if not much more, sometimes even more than ballplayers. Still i am not pleased with MLB's current situation

Well..I have mine own ideas about the strike..and i've read about both sides. I think that the players make too much money (and that's just my opinion) and to me the comment that the owners make too much money is stupid too. Of course they have too much money their owners...but remember..some of these guys worked their whole lives for the oppurtunity to own a team..they just didn't walk out of high school get paid millions of dollars to play a kids game and then buy the team. Players need to realize that the decline in popularity for baseball is half their fault; and if they stopped thinking about themselves and more about the health of the game they would probably be a lot better off in the future. Why did i say only 50%? The owners can be held liable for teh other 50% because they were stupid enough to pay these guys the huge jack that they are.
Did anyone read the quote by Edgerrin James of the Colts yesterday when he said that how come the best player in the NFL, Marshall Faulk just signed a contract for 50 million and the best baseball player, A-Rod, signs a contract for 250 million and how A-Rod doesn't have 350lb linemen chasing after him everytime he wants to trot the bases.
