Is the PASGT helmet with a chin strap assembly DOT approved? Considering some of the helmets I've that are DOT I would think it is but I can't find any info.

It stand for Department of Transportation. It is a basic safty requirement for all helmet sold in the U.S. If your looking for a Motorcycle helmet do yourself a favor and spend a few extra $$ and buy one with a Snell rating. It is a Voluntary programs with much more stringent requirements.Former E-Mag #000472

i'll take a stab at this and go with... no its not DOT approved... granted it will work for stopin a bullet and other srapnel... i would guess there would not be enough padding or something else that would stop it from being ok'ed by the DOT...
btw i am 2/3 of the way to having a bike on the road now.... just have to wait for the 1st owner to straighten out the title with the rmv.... they never reg'ed the bike or had the title put in their name... so now i have to wait... they still owe the sales tax from 20years ago on this bike and the rmv sayes they also owe a penalty ontop of the tax for the last 20 years cuz they never had the title changed over to them.... now i am in limbo.... but the bike is sitting in my driveway... at most i'll just get used to it on my street... (only 3 house on the street and the cops never come around and i got understandin neighbors)
welp time to get ready to go trekkie huntin... talk to ya when i get backVirus, King of the Basement Trollz has spoken

No, the K-pot is not DOT approved. It is only DOD approved, but only for impact trauma.
The K-pot does not have any support for around the head, any impact will move it like a bell (no...it doesn't go "boooonnnngggg"), it simply sits on top of your head, and is cinched downward.
If you are set to have a "helmet" look, go to your local Harley dealer, he will have a German style, DOT approved helmet.

Well, you probably weren't going to be doing much driving at night anyway.
It turns out that the guy I'm getting the 1970 Harley Sportster from want's me to have a little expereance before he gives me that bike. The good news is that he gave me a 1981 Suzuki GS650G for a 30 pack of Bud. It needs some cosmetic work/general maintinence and new mirrors but other than that it runs well. I got to take my first real ride on a full size motorcycle the other day."Relax. Don't worry. Have a Home Brew."
