Well, in my opinion, Iommi executed his skills very well, however his style wasn't as unique and interesting as Tremonti's is. I mean, Iommi played much of his music in standard tuning, occasionaly dropping to DADGBE, whereas tremonti is all over the place, with tunings like DADADD and several other open tunings. In my opinion his very unique style and overall sound just makes him more interesting to listen to. Iommi was speedpicking and tapping well, but truthfully it was nothing new. This is just my opinion though, so don't take it too personally.

And hey guys, any other Victor Wooten (bass) fans?

Just because he is dead doesn't mean that he wasn't good, or that he wasn't my favorite.

I didn't know he died, howcome? A natural death?

Actually I agree, he has some skill, and I like the 7-string bass, its pretty cool. They're not one of my favorite bands (not by a LONG LONG shot) but I agree that he does some nice work.

I almost forgot one band I used to dig a long long time ago, but I just dug up some of their CD's. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were awesome. Joe Gittleman their bassist and Nate Albert (who left) were both awesome paired with Dicky Barret's lyrics and their horn section and the drummers name whom I can't remember now. They are one of the few ska bands that really stand out in my mind.
Good Traders: TheSneakyPengui, spacemanspiff, Load SM5, lilpaintballer, PaInTbALL zAcH, mxkop.

Guitar- Kirk Hammet. He's up there with Eric Clapton
Vocals- Serj Tenkian. (S.O.A.D) really dynamic!
Bass- Less Claypool. He plays the bass like its lead guitar.
Drums- Lars Ulrich. He rocks, plain and simple!

Oh i agree same here! I heard them before they were popular with "Smoothe Criminal" at a LInkin Park concert. They opened. It was cool cause it was my first time seeing that whacky bassist, and it was great! Then he said they were gonna play some pop music....from the king of pop, and they broke out w/ smoothe criminal. It was a nice show, LP rocked the house

They aren't one of my fav bands..not by a longshot..but that bassists is the whackiest guy i've ever seen!

                            My favorites:

Guitar: John Petrucci (from Dream Theater, he does an amazing 'Flight of the Bumblebee'), Yngwie Malmsteen (one of few who can play a Scalloped Guitar), Randy Rhoads (Ozzy/ Black Sabbath, a guitar genius)

Bass: Jonny Myung (Dream Theater), Getty Lee (Rush)

Drummer: Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, currently ranked number one drummer in the world), Neil Pert (Rush)

Vocals: I don't know, I'm more into instrumental talent

Keyboard: The guy that plays for Liquid Tension Experiment, can't think of his name, and Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater)

BTW: I got to see Dream Theater in concert the other night, and they were absolutely amazing. They made King's X (The band that opened for them) sound like amatuers. Portnoy was unbelievable, and so was the set he plays on. Not many drummers can play as fast as he does, especially while throwing his stick in the air and catching it without missing a beat, not to mention the sticks that he threw to the audience while playing. Myung was insane on the bass, and he even did a solo with Petrucci. Petrucci played awesome, and when he came to a fast solo, he'd drop his pick and go fingers.

Next month, I'm going to see Rush, so I can compare Pert and Portnoy after seeing both of them live.

You have not lived long enough. And you have no idea what you are talking about. I used to think what you think. Then I took the time to watch footage of him play. Then I took the time to listen. I have been playing for almost twenty years. I "get" Jimi now.

Drums - Charlie Watts (subtlety at its finest)
John Bonham (double bass sound on a single)

Guitar - Paco Delucia, Robert Fripp, and lately Stevie Ray Vaughn

Bass - hmmm, Flea really rocks, John Entwistle and John Paul Jones

Vocals - Freddie Mercury or Roy Orbison. (no one has greater range than these two)
