    7 string

I'm really considering getting a 7 string guitar, most likely an Ibanez RG, anyone have any experience with them? I want to hear any horror stories, but hopefully I'll here more positive feedback so I can get plop the money down to get one.

    Thanks

hmm, got one at school, and i gotta say, i didnt like it. First off, its harder to play because the neck is really wide. Second off, power chords are really annoying because you have to mute one string, then two, instead on no strings than one and so on and so fourth. I just wasnt impressed. Plus, oyu gotta find another string. That isnt to easy, especially if you dont live near a music store. but, i say try it out, if it floats your boat go for it

I don't mind it being hard to play, I'm expecting that. My local store sells 7-string packs, so that should be easy too. I've got a 6 string RG right now, I like it. It'd be nice to have a six and a seven.

Ive never played an rg before, but I have played a schecter daimond series 7 string... It was crazy good, I didnt mind the wider neck (classical guitar got me used to that) and it is really neat working with the super low b string... It offers you a new range of things to play, from korn like sounds to joe satriani style.. I didnt like muting the string either, but hey, its a trade off I would be willing to make.

I have an ESP M-107 that I play off and on. The first time I played it, I couldn't stand it because the neck was thick, the non-tremelo tail piece was hard for my to get used to, and it was a big of an adjustment to tune. But now that I've been playing it for a while, I love it really. Most people drop D tune it, but I just go to an A. It works really great. ESP makes a great guitar so look at them if you want a good quality guitar.
