Where can I find cartoon characters?

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get images of cartoon characters off the internet. I need them for a project at school (It's supposed to be for little kids).
Anyone know a website or something?

OK. I'm in an advanced criminal investigation class (I'm an ADJ major) ANyway, I have to make a project for kids (K-3rd grade) warning them about physical and emotional abuse. I want picture of cartoon characters to say things. Ex:

Jonny gets home from school. He had a bad day and got into trouble. His parents punish him by throwing him into a closet for a long time. Is this right?

(Winnie the pooh)- no thats not. Ask your teacher at school to help you.

well i think you should do a survey to see what cartoon character every body likes than take the fist.... lets say 10 and put together a mural kind of thing to promote you message
