What will happen in the 2002 season? Beside the Avs woopin the ______ (fill in the blank) out of the rest of the NHL, I think the Ducks might actualy get into the playoffs.

Lets see..

Messier, best captain any team could ask for.

Lindros and Holik. Two of the best physically dominating centers in the game (assuming Lindros stays healthy)

Bure, argueably the best sniper in the league.

Leeth and Kasper, awesome offensive D-man and an awesome defensive D-man.

Not to mention other players like Barnaby, McCarthy, Purinton, Oliwa, and Kloucek who are fully capable of putting the Big Hurt on anyone who tries to rough the Rangers up this year.

And in goal? Richter and a more experienced Blackburn?

If we don't make the playoffs, I'll be an unhappy camper.

thordic, you know from being a jersey guy, that Lindros is a big pansy, thats all he is.

As for teams, Flyers will dominate this year. Primeau is top. LeClair is da man.

Trust me, Flyers will dominate this year, i have no factual evidence, but they will dominate!

I find it funny how all the Flyer's fans loved Eric until he LEFT the team, and all the Ranger's fans hated Eric until he JOINED the team. Devils fans have been hating Eric no matter what team he was on.

We hated him because we hated playing against him, though. Same reason why everyone hated Bobby Holik (Oh yeah, we have him now too, did I mention that? )

Just for the record, Messier is back, and he scored a hat trick last night in the White vs. Blue match, playing against Bure, Lindros, and Holik.

Gotta go with the Avs, but I'm concerned about their blueline. Really concernced. We have the best 1-2 centers in the league though.

On the lindros topic. Don't like him, never have. At least he doesn't play as dirty as chelios or messier. Although messier is getting better.

Stars will get bumped first round.
Kings will drop off, sharks will go deep.

Messier used to be the dirtiest player in the NHL. At this point in his career though, hes on the ice for leadership value, and he doesn't worry about that other stuff quite so much anymore.

Yeah, he still slashes at ankles, but nothing compared to what he used to do. You're right, he seems to have settled into a more leadership/calming type of infulance now.

Well, I never said he played CLEAN now, but he plays better I think part of it is he can't defend himself quite as well anymore

I don't know about calming, though. He still isn't exactly "level-headed". Especially with the amount of size and power he'll have behind him this year (Oliwa, Holik, Kasper, McCarthy, Barnaby, Purinton, Kloucek) I wouldn't be surprised to see him instigate things to get the team motivated a lot.

I meant that he is called Mark "The Captain" Messier for a reason. He's a professional leader, so to speak. He knows his job on the ice is to keep the team motivated, not to piss off the other team.
