    Airgun.com blocked by my school...

AGD's homepage has been restricted by my school for "weapons content". Which I find interesting because NO OTHER paintball website has been restricted by the school's system. Anyone else finding these filter's to be blocking access to different paintball websites?

I'm guessing its due to the name "airGUN". See if you can go to something like www.colt.com, or www.glock.com and see if its just the name or if its the content.

Not that I advertise this as "ethical" in fact you are probably violating more policies if you do this.

Now if they have blocked it because of the word air"GUN"...

If you hit up http://www.anonymizer.com and punch in the URL you should be able to get to Airgun's site. Now, if the school's network admin is smart, he will have blocked proxy sites. In which case you can put in the IP address which is 168.143.113.10

I don't advocate doing this, I'm just saying that it will work, because public knowledge is always a good thing.

I'm not under the alkafluence of inkahol that some thinkle peep I am. It's just the drunker I sit here the longer I get...

Shartley I do agree with you to a certain extent. Please, no one take any offense to this, as it may not be the case. But...

Some students and their parents may not be able to afford to have a computer or internet access in their homes. The cost of owning equipment and using the internet has come down considerably but still may be out of reach for some lower income families. The only way for some students to access the internet is to use a school PC on their OWN time (lunch, after school) or you can use a PC at your local library. If its not related to school as Shartley said then I would suggest using the library if you cannot access it from school on your own time.

I use the net though my office at work and I am taking a chance on getting in trouble. I do make sure my work is being completed on a regular basis though.

It is unusual though that you can access everything else though.

A couple things to try ...

              1) Try to access it by ip address only ... not name. Some blocking software blocks the FQDN and not the IP addy.

              2) If it blocks the dotted quad ip addy (ie xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) then you can also try converting the IP addy to a binary number and trying to access it by this method. Again some block software doesnt block this method either. If you dont know how to do this you can PM me and I will send you the details ...

Just some simple ways to try an work around the system

I totally agree. It is a luxury in most cases. Although I do not see the problem if he/she is using the access after school on personal time. It would be the same as using a library computer and actually better in some cases for the simple fact that some sensitive material is being blocked from view.

I, as you grew up with none of these luxuries and do not expect them to be abused at the cost of taxpayers. These blocked sites should not be circumvented just because you think that the block is improper. To me that would be a waste of time. If you have that much time then you should be looking into taking on some extra credit homework or night classes preparing for college. I wish I would have.

Shartley--At my school during lunch, free period, etc. we can go to the lab and do whatever we want on the computer(not WHATEVER we want, but you get the idea, free time). Thats a time when you could goto airgun.com, see whats going on with AGD, and in fact you are encouraged to do it.
