    Kazaa V2

Has anyone else upgraded to Kazaa Version 2 yet? I was using Kazaa lite when I noticed my average kbps seemed to drop severly. So I decided to upgrade to the new Kazaa and see if it helped.

What i found out was that the speed of your downloads is now limited by your "Participation Level". How this works is, the higher your level, the more sources you have available to download from (in other words, you get first pic if someone is trying to get something at the same time).

This "participation level" is determined by: 1. how many uploads you get in comparison to your amount of downloads, and the other way around (though it seems to be slightly off balanced against you), and 2. how many of your files have been "rated for integrity".

IMO, this system works miserably. To get reasonable download speeds you need to get about 6 times as many uploads as you do downloads. I left Kazaa running all day to allow my participation level to go up and as soon as I downloaded ONE paintball video it dropped from 190 to 90.

Maybe its a trade off for getting FREE software which shouldnt be allowed in the first place.

dont use kazaa. they steal and rip off other companies. keep with lite. by the way if you already dled kazaa then you probably have spyware on your system. theres a thread on this in the friendly corner.

I am aware of spyware, and was able to delete most of it, and Kazaa V2 WILL continue to run because of the dummy spyware that came with kazaa lite.

Im still not sure whether it applies to people who havent upgraded to it. I have been switching back and forth between kazaa lite and kazaa V2 and both seem to have gotten much slower.
