Sick and tired of Shartley Threads

OK - Am I the only one getting sick of seeing Shartley bash threads? It isn't that they are all undeserved, but lately it seems like the guy can't post without someone taking a swipe at him.

I am not defending Shartley - lord knows I have had run-ins with him before, but lately EVERY post that he replies to winds up being a showdown between him and some other lyrical amateur trying to show off his debating skills on the topic of "Shartley - the man, the myth, the paintballer." Jesus people - if you don't like someone, just ignore him! There is no reason for everyone to throw in personal attacks at him. Didn't anyone teach you that in like 3rd grade?

And Sam, I am not letting you off the hook entirely either. Sometimes you should practice what you preach - take the high road and ignore the comments. So many good threads have dissolved into two pages of you and someone and your little diatribes.

That being said, if I was Sam and getting some of the crap he gets I would give you all a good verbal lashing too!

Now everyone knock it off and play nice in the sandbox!!!

P.S. I happen to like reading some of the arguments - but not at the expense of the thread topics. Some good points get lost in these stupid debates.

As much as I disagree with him, I think starting a thread simply to crap on him is stupid, and should be avoided. There's no reason to set out with the purpose of flaming someone.

If its a reply to him in a post where someone is replying to something he said, then I find that to be a little different. Sometimes those threads degenerate, and then they get modded, but I don't see any reason why people can't express their opinions in response to one of his opinions.

OK - Now I see why he gets into so many arguments, because people don't read. I am not bashing him - I am pointing out that people use ANY excuse to bash him. Where do I flame him here? I said I am sick of people turning good posts into Shartley attack threads.

Where do you think I am flaming him in this post? On the contrary I am defending him. I was reading his PuhLEEEZE post and it ticked me off that while most of the conversation was about cars - the latter portions turn into a Shartley flame.

Shartley is one of the most outspoken people on the board and should expect some of this - but lately I have noticed most people go out of their way to get into a confrontation with him. It just gets annoying when it is at the expense of an otherwise healthy conversation.

Where did I crap on him Brian? I am pointing out that it seems when he posts it draws the sharks who all want a piece of the flaming action. A lot of people have done it, myself included.

I didn't "crap on him" - unless pointing out that sometimes he adds fuel to the fire is considered a flame.

The point I am trying to make here is that lately it seems a lot of people are ridiculing him and degenerating the topics that are being discussed. I am not blaming him. This is my way of telling everyone to shut up!
