The PS2 library thing has been brought up many times before on gaming forums, and the main reason why its so much bigger than the other next gen consoles is that its been out for almost a year more than they have, and the huge player base that own PS2s. Would you rather market your totally lame and sucky game to a base of 30 million or one with maybe 5 million. My point is that most of the PS2 library totally sucks, of course it does still have some hardcore games out.

Maybe someone can PM me why my sig was tampered
with when my image is below 20 kb and was 350x159.(20435 bytes/1024 bytes per kb = 19.96 kb.)

THIS GAME IS #1 REASON TO BUY A PS2........

Welcome to the 1980s. From the decade of big hair, excess, and pastel suits comes a story of one man's rise to the top of the criminal pile as Grand Theft Auto returns.Vice City is a huge urban sprawl ranging from the beach to the swamps and the glitz...

Wait- did someone just say Nintendo is just making the same games over again? I can't tolerate this any more. Nintendo is the single most innovative game developer. Nearly half of the games they make can't even be placed into a genre. So, how can those be the same games you played on SNES? I don't understand. No other company has gone as far as to create a completly new game in so long I can't even remember (Black & White is one exception). Even the games that are sequels to Nintendo's previous games are fine with me- they are so incredibly good that it's fine with me.

I'd say the #1 reason to buy a PS2 would be either MGS2:SoL or fighting games, not an expansion of a game that really had nothing more than widespread violence (GTA3). The story was poorly assembled, if existant at all. I don't take pleasure in doing nothing but killing people in cars (didn't that game come out like 5 years ago but called Carmageddon, and was more fun?) but I suppose those endlessly facinated by killing would take a shining to anything GTA.

It's true that Nintendo's FPS domination from the N64 days are over- with only Turoc (sucks) and the upcoming Time Splitters 2 (which is for all consoles) and a controller not suited to actually use the smaller c-stick for precise controlls (I still find it has more precise controlls than the PS2 analog sticks, but that's me) I doubt that there will be many good FPS games coming to Game Cube. But if you wanted FPS games, get a good computer or Goldeneye. There's no arguing with that.

As another point- Game Cube is cheaper, but can't play CD's or DVD's. But the PS2 CD and DVD player sucks (I have one, guys, so go ahead and try to tell me otherwise while the CD player on my PS2 constantly skipps, loops, and puts out poor quality sound) so it's not such a big deal.

For multiplayer, Game Cube is easily superior. Currently hosting Monkey Ball, Monkey Ball 2, Smash Brothers, Soccer Slam, and others, and bringing many others in the future, Game Cube is for groups of people

For single player, PS2 has a large selection of good games. Obviousally, this includes MGS2, one of the best games I've ever played (only Ledgend of Zelda, Ocrina of Time was better). Also because of the button configuration, PS2 is host to the best fighting games.

If online is your thing, Microsoft has the best PLANS. But online games usually lead to anger/frustration from using un-fixable exploits, hearing immature little children tell you to suck parts of their underdeveloped anatomy (it happens(http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php...02-08-30&res=l)) and with voice support for all games, I'd get pretty angry. There are some interesting games COMING OUT for X-box, such as Steel Batallion, DoA:Extreme Beach Volleyball (er, pr0n simulator), Panzer Dragoon Orta, and MGS2:SoL:Substance. The controller is not a problem for me- while the origional is way to big, it is easily remidied with the purchase of an S-Controller, but that means I have to buy a controller just to play at all. None of the games appeal to me, what can I say, but other people like them.

I say buy the system for the games. If eye candy is your thing, or you like playing with other"people" online, go for the X-Box. If a small nummber of well made games, horror games, or social multiplayer is more up your ally, buy a Game Cube. For a large selection of decent (and some great) games and minimal online presence is more your preference, buy a PS2. They all have some good games, just decide which games you like, and don't buy into hype or listen to anyone else here.

                --On Edit--
Oh and Gibby- Nintendo's not going the way of Sega, they just won't be putting out a new console in quite some time.

uh, too lazy to argue about all that BS in that post, but in the end, he is right, it all comes down to prefrence, if you like more...Nintendo games, get a gamecube (zelda, mario, you know, the just save things, like the princess kinda games) If you like more FPS, Gore, or games that look "pretty", get an XBOX, or if you like a bunch of POS games, and maybe a handfull of good ones, get a PS2....

My crazy roommate has almost every game console known to man. (even Virtua Boy) The only system that I wouldnt get is Cube. Just something about playing little kids games. And no matter how you slice it, Cube games are mostly kids games. Well, that and remakes of 64 games that were actually good. (except for Goldeneye )

I say PS2 is a good system, mainly cuz they have a variety of games to choose from, and quite a bit of them as well. And depending on what kind of gamer you are, they will have at least 5 or 6 games of that genre/style. And then you have the best of both worlds, ur bros's Xbox and your PS2.

Best multiplayer for folks over the age of 12 is X-Box. Can you say 16 player Halo, Hunter: The Reckoning, DOA3, all the various sports games, and more. And just wait for X-Box Live.

PS2 is second for network multiplayer, but lags in the single-box multiplayer arena.

GameCube? useless controller (Sure it's an improvement over the N64 controller, but it's still worse than the DC controller let alone the incredibly good DualShock and X-Box controllers), has 1 good exclusive game thats not a remake or for the 8 year old set (Super Monkey Ball? come on, I'm not 8, I want games that challenge more than my hand-eye coordination, story would be cool too). Eternal Darkness is great and I have high hopes for the Resident Evil remakes. Zelda and Mario? who cares, they haven't done anything innovative here in years.

As to Nintendo Innovation, you have Pikmin...and....and...that's it. Lack of innovation is Nintendo's story these days, how far the mighty have fallen.

Aah yes- other companies have put games on trading cards before, made real time life/communication games, four player fighting games... See em all the time. You are just mistaking Nintendo's small number of released games, about half to 1/4 of which are innovative, to mean that they don't release innovative stuff.

When I say multiplayer, you apparently mis-understood. I mean actually sitting down and playing with other people, ala what multiplayer meant before consoles started going online. If I wanted to play online games, I'd go where they are good- computer. The costs associated with playing over multiple systems (multiple copies of the game, multiple TV's, multiple systems, more controllers, link cables) make it difficult to actually do this, especially for a FPS which would controll better on a computer any way.

Most (I can't think of any other than Salt Lake City 2001 that are not) sports games are released on all systems. Hunter is coming to Game Cube. I can say 16 player Halo, or 64 player Battle Field 1942, or 32 player Unreal Tournament 2003. Console FPS' are nothing to me. Sure- you got me on the fighting genre. The Cube's controller is useless for a 2 player fighting game, but works fine for 4 player fighting games. My mistake.

So you don't like puzzle games like Super Monkey Ball. Oh well, I suppose all puzzle games are made for 8 year olds and don't satisfy your thirst for blood. You do realize the multiplayer in Monkey Ball consists of things such as pool, tennis, soccer, Monkey Target, bowling, golf, and monkey race, not just multiple people playing the main game, right?

"If your looking for not laggy, good multiplayer, XBOX is the way to go,"
A better way to say this would be-
"If you have broadband, you will not have to put up with modem users lagging, and usually get fairly good pings. But if you don't have broadband, you cannot use X-Box online, untill you get broadband."
X-Box live seems to be a good plan, but you have to pay to play. In the long run, and assuming PS2 online games continue to not charge monthly, it will be more expensive than the cost of nothing more than the PS2 Network Adaptor.
-Any game can be made to lag, mykroft. All it needs is a bad dev team who dosen't try to keep it running at a decent amount of frames per second.

I don't see what the graphics has to do with the actual game, either. I suppose I'm just a gamer. I find it interesting coming out in a forum where people use things (paintball guns) based on their preformance and not looks. When Microsoft bought Rare, Rare decided to change JoAnna Dark, of Perfect Dark fame, from a hot chick to a cartoon character, believing it would fit the console's image better. Go figure.

First, if you have not played extensively using all 3 controllers, don't try to tell me what's best. Odd, though, I keep thinking the Dual Shock and X-Box controllers are useless. I suppose to each their own- I won't argue over opinions.

I care about Zelda- the games continue to get better with each game. I was going to point out that Link is the most popular video game character, but that means nothing. Obviousally they haven't done anything innovative- as I said earlier very few games actually have. Believe it or not, that includes Halo (which as I said I don't like, but it's fine with me if you do. I won't tell you what to like.)

Yes, I enjoyed Eternal Darkness. I love horror games, and I'm pretty excited about RE0 (which is an all new game) and Silent Hill 2. Has anyone played The Thing? It's been getting mixed reviews between the console and computer versions, which is scaring me, and I haven't seen anything other than reviews about the game.

I also don't want to hear what games are not good. YOU don't like them. I do. I'm not telling you Halo sucks, I'm saying I don't like it. Believe it or not, people have different tastes. See, I don't even like Smash Brothers, in fact, I hate it. But many people do like it, so I wasn't going to say anything bad about it. Unless a game is truely bad, and the reviews back up that statement (Turoc: Evolution), I just keep my mouth shut.

You see, I wish I had the money for an X-Box and some S-Controllers. There are good games for X-Box. Never did I disagree. I just would not be using it for much of my multiplayer gaming. Computers have perfected online play, and I'd rather sit around drinking and playing Monkey Golf with my friends than play another console shooter.

Links that you can use to try to prove me wrong-

You pay $50 a YEAR, and each time you do that you get a free game....so mainly if you like that game, in a sense, the service is free.

Well crap- I didn't know that was how it worked. I just assumed it was a pay-to-play monthly thing like MMORPG's. That's pretty cool- what kind of games they give out? Like an actual game, or some sort of demo? For example, when it launches next month, what game do you get?
