Photoshoppers, help out a fellow AO'er please!

Hey everyone, I have to say as I use Photoshop more and more I feel I am getting much better. However, my teammates are anxious to see me come up with one (of many) team logos and I am not having much luck.

Our team name is Sudden Impact, and what I am hoping to get done is some plain old text with a specific type font/effect.

If anyone has seen the Dirty Harry movie Sudden Impact, it is the actual text from the movie box cover. I have NOT been able to find anything similar on the net, although perhaps I have not been trying all to hard in the past few days.

To give an example, I will show you what the original box looks like.

If anyone could help, I would be greatly appreciative!

As a side note, I have tried to do the text with some filters, manual effects, but just am not happy with the way the ones I do turn out.

just cut that out put a clear backround behind it and enlarge it to your likeing

It doesn't look as nice. I had tried that previously....lol.


I don't even know of any decent filters in Photoshop that would do this for me....but I am a PS newbie.

What exactly are you trying to do? What text to you want? You want the <a href=http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials/explosion/explosion.htm>broken/exploding</a> text? You want <a href=http://www.themeworld.com/fonts/index.shtml>fonts</a>?

If you could better describe what you want I may be able to help. I'm not PS pro.. but I do not a few things.

here's a quicky. if you have photoshop, you could just take that image, blow it up and then retrace the edges.

Just to let you know there is a team out of Clarksville, TN, and there name is Sudden Impact. But since your in Canada, I don't think it would be a problem.

The logo is nice though.

Darn, thanks a lot guys! The funny thing is that right after I posted it I gave Photoshop a try and came up with this:
