I have Guidescope. IT works very well. I'm so used to no ads home, I hate surfing the web anywhere else, now. I asked the tech guys at my school to install it, but they were instructed not to block "anything" from up above, since the student council got the web filter repealed.

the adaware one.. I forgot the link..
I only use it when popups get really massive and/or annoying because it prevents you from opening a new window...

Have you noticed the increasing amount of paysites, and things that used to be free, but now aren't? Take NetZero for example. It used to be free, but people started abusing it. They would find a bug in it, so they din't have to look at the ad. And with the pop-up blockers, you are doing the same thing. The more people that use them, the less websites can rely on that type of funding.

So, since they can't get funding from ads anymore, they have to start charging for information. That is why I will never use a pop-up blocker, or anything like them. People who use them want the internet to remain free, but it can't any more.

Well... that's very noble of you.

              [IMHO]

However, I pay ~$50/month to view the internet (DSL), and I don't care for pop-ups nor the dilema you discribed.

My friend uses NetZero for free and he has to deal with all the advertisements which dominate his desktop... but that's ok. It's the price and hassels he has to pay for getting the interent "free". I, on the other hand pay, so I don't want that junk on my desktop.

If I didn't click on it, why should I have to deal with it popping-up (or under) on my screen?

Pop-up's are very intrusive and down right rude.

If a website wants ads, then put the bloody thing in a banner of something. Don't clutter my desktop by opening new windows.

              [/IMHO]

i have panic ware. it works very good but the only thing is that you have to press shift every time you open up a new window. but i'll put up with it as long as i dont have all of those annoying pop ups.

You can go to Pow by AnalogX

This thing works pretty decently you have to turn it back on after everytime you restart your computer I believe. I haven't recently had anytime to play with it, but i'm sure you can set it up so that it is always running.
