    GM powerplant

As the title suggests, I'm looking at trying to price a
Gen III LS1 engine to put in my Ute. Does anyone work for GM or know anyone who does, and what it would cost to ship an engine out to Australia? I've been quoted stupid amounts to buy one through Holden (GMH) and have been told that I can get one landed here for near half that price.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Man you are one lucky guy. I love the UTE's. I would like to pick up a 2002 UTE SS but have never seen one here in the US. You have any pics of yours?

          Spray,

The page you linked look like all race engines am I correct?

If so, DAYYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMMM!!!!!! I can pick up a crate engine, for the same price as a stock one here!!! mmmmmmm.........

But I am still after a stocko engine that I can work on here at home, you know, blower, gas, etc, etc...

Dude, My ute's an older model, there's been 2 new body shapes since this one. But I prefer the one I've got, it's a little smaller than the new shapes.

              Ok, my uterus has (drumroll.....)

5.0L V8 engine puttin out 165kw standard @ the flywheel.
I now have 175kw @ the wheels thanks to exhaust and intake mods (i.e. 2.5" exhaust w/ Genie extractors and hi-flow cat and muffler and a K&N pod filter w/ cold air induction)

              4 speed auto
not sure of the diff ratio.

              My best 1/4 mile time - 15.187sec @ 97mph
not bad, but I WANNA 14!!!!!!!

Check this out for the latest model SS Ute,

Studebaker Avanti's were incredible cars. Studebaker's in general were very technologically advanced for thier time. They were the first to have a car with no timeing belts. It was a spline gear that ran counter clockwise, very advanced for it's time. The Avanti is still considered to have the finest fiberglass body ever constructed for an automobile. The supercharged engine in it was pretty darn fast and bulletproof. It had many ammenaties that rival cars of today, and a gorgeous dash cluster complete with aircraft analog guages and a layout that looks similar to a Dodge Viper, with the rows of round guage ports. So, I would be quite happy if someone were to recreate Studebakers.

                    1/4 mile time

Well, I'm getting closer to my 14 sec 1/4 mile, went out to the strip again last Saturday, 15.051 @ 93.15mph. Not bad, but I wanna go faster!!!! I've been told I need a shift kit and about a 3,000rpm stall converter. any other suggestions, apart from anything major like a blower etc...
Here's a copy of the time slip, hopefully you can read it properly.
