    pensacola, fl

i just got a job offer to move down to that chunk of the world. the pay is about the same (looks like the cost of living is rather low, so thats good), but it appears that the job would be more stable (and more enjoyable) that what i am currently doing.

i'm looking to hear from people who live(d) in or around the area and can tell me if this is a place that i'd like to move to.

i've lived in/around detroit for most of my life, so funky weather doesn't bother me at all, but are the summers oppresively hot and sticky?

I haven't lived there, but I've been in that neck of the woods a few times. It's nice. It get's hot, but I don't think the humidity's as bad as other parts of the south.
I'm way too old for this ****.

I lived in Florida for a year in 1986. I thought it was fantastic and would definitely live there again. Of course, I was in the fourth grade too so take that for what you will. I say go for it!

it's too hot, the wages are less and there are way too many blue hairs (in short, you can't move, I'd only get out to play about half as often as I do)

good to see that you're looking out for my best interest there rob

the pay cut would only be about $1200 actually (they want me rather badly). from what i here, the blue hair population isn't that high, and besides i'd be less than 2 miles from the ocean.

we'd have a spare bedroom, you could always just come down and crash for the weekend, get some nice outdoor ball in feb.

i live in miami 2 miles from the coast. the summers are hot as balls, the winter cold as.. something really cold, and everything in between has mosquitoes. god i love it. the late june- september is really too hot to do anything, but all other times its all good. plus youll be close to waynes world... i think. also it may be hot but we have fantastic ocean breezes as long as your relatively near to the coast. upper and inland florida kinda suck in that they have no breeze.

i have lived in Florida since 1990.I live on Madeira Beach now,and I love it.I live right across from the beach.

The summers are hot,but they are hot no matter where you live.

As for humidity...its not so bad in Pensicola as it is more south, like where I live.

I would take the job...but then again...you would have to leave ur friend...but he can visit you,and play some ball like u said

Well, if the military is stationed there...you may actually find some affordable housing. Too hot for my tastes though...I am considering Alaska.

I have lived in P/cola since 93. Cost of living is cheap. I have lived in Orlando area Melbourne and the Keys. This is by far my favorite. It does get hot and humid in the summer time but is not that bad if you live close to the beaches.

Paintball in p/cola is pretty good. There are three stores, Pensacola Paintball Supply, Paintstation and Paintball Panic. Panic is the only field open at this time. They have hyperball, sup air and woods. PPS is working on a field about 20 minutes outside of town in Lilian, Al. They have a ball wall field woods and are working on sup air. They have 40 acres to work with so it should be nice when they do open to the public (this is where I curently Play).

Mobile Alabama is only a 50 minute drive and they have a couple of stores and fields. I think there is a warped sports in lower Mississippi, they also have casinos, it is about a two hour drive.

Panama city has a nice field, it is a 2 hour drive. M3 paintball just oppend a store in Crestview Fl. about 45 minutes away. Man hunt paintball in Navarre FL. just reopened it is a 30 minute drive.

There is also a ton of private fields in the area. Thats one good thing obout living in a rural area. People have alot of extra acres to build fields on.

If you deside to move down here get up with me and I will get you up to speed on the local paintball scene. Only a 1200 dollar a year pay cut will not be bad considering the cost of living in this area.

I kinda grew up near there. Was born at Eglin AFB hospital and then returned there when I was in Jr. High and finished HS there in an area west of there. Near Fort Walton Beach. So its close to Pensacola. I was over that way a lot. Probably the nicest Beaches in the world in that area. Pure white sugar sand. Stunning water clarity. Heat? Well you eventually climatize to it. It takes a few years for that to happen. But you adjust. Yes last I saw cost of living was not too bad in that area. But it has grown a lot since I lived there. I enjoyed that whole stretch of beach from there to Panama City during the time it was very little built up. I fear its a bit more commercial now from all I have seen and heard.
