OSU has one of the toughest sports programs in the country. One loosing season, and bye to the coach. Cooper was a very good coach, but got fired because he kept getting beat by Michican, who stopped OSU from going to the championship, i belive, 10 times.

they have a dream season every year.

offesne- krenzel had a good season, very little interceptions, but scared to throw the ball (doesnt want to be like bellesari), he can be the difference maker. jenkins and gamble are very good wide recievers and could do a lot of damage. Maurice Clarrett, sensational freshman, will EXPLODE this game. he will be healthy and will play his heart out. ross and hall will be ready to, just incase maurice gets hurt again.
Uh, yeah I do. Ohio State managed to win six games this year out of their 13 by a margin of 7 points or less. That includes wins over such amazing powerhouses as Cincinnati and Kent State. They managed to win (IMHO with help from the refs' bad calls) at Illinois, and got extremely lucky the cornerback covering Micheal Jenkins wasn't paying attention when they beat Purdue on fourth down. These are the same Buckeyes that always get derailed by the Woverines (especially in '95 and '96, and should have this year too), and the same Buckeyes that haven't won a National Championship since the 1968 season. They've got a great athlete in Chris Gamble playing two-way ball as a wideout and defensive back (and not because it seemed like a fun idea. They needed the help there), a great tailback in Clarett, and a "just get it done" guy in Krenzel.

Hey, I'm not saying they have absolutely no chance of winning, I'm just saying I don't quite believe the hype. I mean, I hate Miami as much as the next guy but I have to conceed they are very talented and very deep on the roster. I just don't see anything getting in their path now that they are there. Miami had a few close calls, like the Rutgers game heading into the fourth quarter and the Pitt game from the outset. But champions always find a way to win, no matter what. I think any contest this year Miami didn't blow somebody out was because they didn't have their heads in the game or just got bored. Period. OSU on the other hand found itself in some true dogfights this year, and like a true champion found a way to win no matter what. A Big 10 Champion that is...or, at least, a co-champion. (I would have loved to see them and Iowa go at it in the regular season).

I'll be rooting for Ohio State as hard as anybody just because somebody needs to knock Miami off their high horse, but in the end I don't see it being OSU. Good luck to them as they try anyway.

      Miami in a rout

Kenny and Willis will be angry because they will be hosed on the Heisman. Miami's offence won't win the game though, it will be the defence. Ohio State won't have any passing game, and you can't beat UM with just the run. I think it will be a close game, but not only UM can beat UM.

BTW this should be third title in a row. No way should FSU have played Oklahoma 2 years ago!

Might want to ask Rutgers (the 109th best football team in the country) about running the ball up the middle on Miami. They did it quite successfully without a big name running back and a pittiful offence. Miami has the 90th rated run defence in the country, Ohio State's running attack is in the top ten.

Miami has not faced anything like Ohio State this year, and Ohio State has not faced a team as well balenced as Miami. The bottom line is both teams failed to lose a game this year, and both have had ugly games. Larry Cooker knows what he's getting into though, he was an assitant at OSU before he went to Miami. Its going to be a close game no matter which way you cut it.

And if anyone but Brad Banks wins the Heisman this year, it will be a gimme. Ken Dorsey is not nearly as good as Carson Palmer, and Magahee isn't as good as Larry Johnson. The one thing they do have is a 34-1 record, but the Heisman is for the best player in the country, not the best team.

Actually it is number 30 Miami is 32. West Virginia is Number 2 and Virginia Tech is number 14. Those numbers don't matter. Its the final score that matters. I think it will be a close game for a while. In the end it will be like Nebraska last year.

i hate to be out of line, espically being new on the board but miami is going to beat the holy living hell out of the buckeyes. point spreads dont get out of wack for no good reason, gamblers dont take risks. as with the majority of "big games" this will be a blowout of the highest order. my bold predicion, miami 52 ohio state 17.

Care to make a wager on that spread? I'd take that in a heart beat. I'll take anything over a touch down.

Just kidding...actually Miami is really strong..I think they'll crush Ohio State. I mean, OSU had a nice dream season (pretty much the same way ND did) but they managed to escape a few real close ones that could've gone the other way. Miami on the other hand didn't so much as ecaspe a few games as they finally woke up out of their boredom in the fourth quarter. I think Miami wins in a landslide and makes for a snoozer. Now the other bowls will be very interesting. I just wish my Irish hadn't played so poorly in the second half of the USC game..maybe we still would have gotten the Orange. I'm proud to say they're going to the Gator Bowl though...GO IRISH!! (Incidentally, anybody who thinks they would have gotten killed in the Orange just needs to watch the FSU/ND game. Emotions and state of mind make up 90% of a contest, and that day they could have played with anybody.) At any rate, good luck to all the bowl bound teams.

Too bad we cant just forget about it. I wish we could forget about everyones 1-2 bad days, then EVEREYONE would be a winner. YEA!

Yes but the ponit is we DID win our close games, nobody else did(except miami).

actually Miami is really strong..I think they'll crush Ohio State. Hmmm...I thought that attitude was 90% of games? How can you say thats gonna happen if 90% of the game isnt decided untill gameday.

                  Ok im done with that

Actually I think that OSU is a perfect matchup for Miami. I can't say whos gonna win but I can say they WONT cover a 13 pt spread.
OSU has an awesome defensive line, and we all know how well dorsey does under pressure. OSU can stick gamble on man to man(he can play with anyone in the nation) and give Fox a safety as backup. Then thell just stick 8 guys in the box and stuff Maghaee.

And OSU's offense? Theyll do pretty well too. Miami will stop you if you try and run around the line, but the STINK when you run it up the middle, which is exactly what Maurice Clarett does. And with big plays at crunch time coming from possibly the best wide reciever corps in the nation(Gamble, Jenkins, Vance) and Krenzel who always comes through, I dont see how Miami can stop em.

Did I mention special teams? The numerically BEST kicking team in the NATION(cant argue with this) will gain control of the feild position battle, which is CRUCIAL in big games.

                  OSU over Miami 20-14

o wow, what a joke. you obviously dont know anything. lol. And big games are usually not blow outs, they are usually UPSETS. How is miami going to kill OSU. State facts, or leave. If you dont back it up or cant, then dont say it.

                      Reasons why OSU could win:

                      1. Best run defense in the league
                      2. 2nd best overall defense in the league (least amount of points scored against them)
                      3. Maurice Clarett against Miami's ranked 90th run defense
                      4. Doss, Wilheim, Gamble, Nickey, Grant-->Dorseys worst fear.
                      5. One of the top kickers in league. Nugent was 23/23 at one time

as for ohio state having a dream season, what a joke! Theey have been ranked almost every season in the past 20 years! They missed the championship 10 times by 1 game!

To get rid of Clarrett just hit him in the shoulders a couple of times and he is done for the game.

People will really LOVE Larry Cocher for that one,

Miami finally gets up against a team that can play them, and theres a player on that team who can run all over em, so instead of actually giving them a shot they go out to try and injure him.

Dude, you should coach the Bengals, youd fit right in.

Hum. it is called strategy. You don't purposly go out and hurt somebody. But the way Clarrett is, a couple of hits to his shoulders will knock him out of the game. Just regular hard tackles.

I dont think claretts all that injury prone. Everyone gets banged up some time or other, its just a part of sports. I realize that he's had problem's this season but i think he will hold together for this game. Its for the national championship...as long as he can still walk he will be out there giving a 110%.

And besides, his shoulder could turn to confetti and hed still wanna go back in this game, only difference is hed hold the ball with both hands.
