    Speaker Scam Notice

This might be really off topic, but my friend got scammed like this today. He is by no means rich and he is lucky to only lose 80 dollars. However, he no longer has money to spend on Christmas gifts for his family. Lucky him that I'm loaning him 50.

He is a highschool junior just like me so try to imagine what it is like losing that money....

Anyway, it's that Dogg Digital Speaker Scam if you're heard of it before. Keep in mind though that the speaker brand name that is used might be different.

Looks like this happens all across the country. I'm just posting it up here for awareness mainly because it affected someone I know and it's starting to happen in my area frequently.

Take care guys and "if it's too good to be true, it hardly ever is" can also be applied to paintball products so watch out.

    Thanks

let me get this straight, he bought the speakers in person, but didn't notice that they weren't bose? i don't really see any reason for someone to think that buying speakers out of the back of a truck could be in any way legit...

They are fake stamped with all the logos. The correct box, invoice, catalogue, the works.

And my friend is one of those entrepreneuring types so naturally he thought it was a good offer. These con artists have run this scheme probably thousands of times. They have their whole sales pitch down to an art im sure.

However, I do admit that he was thinking properly. It's easy also to judge harshly in hindsight, but if you were actually there, you might've bought into it too.

Um, he was also in HS. So, maturity didnt play a bog part.
We had a couple guys doing that in our area a few years back. They got shut down by the PD. They insisted it was legit till the end. Ah, it wasnt. Thanks for pointing this stuff out Ron.

            No problem guys.

Also, yeah, it's false advertising! Looks like they aren't too smart.

              Here's an Update!

Hey, here's the latest update: we got his money back!

It took a small covert op to do it, but we did. Here's how:

When the guys that sold him the junk, they told him they would call him later that night after he asked his friends if they would like to buy a set too. When they called, he said that he would tell them to meet a friend of his (me) in a parking lot to buy the exact, 4-foot tall speaker system.

The original plan was for me to hide in the bushes and take a few snapshots of the guys and their license plates, but luck was on our side. Turns out that they scammed a few more people yesterday and sold all of their 4-foot speakers; therefore, they decided to pay my friend 100 dollars to buy back their shoddy speaker.

We met them in the parking lot of Walmart at 1AM last night. I posed as the new potential buyer and after a little hoopla, I told them I was not interested. So in the end, they lost 20 dollars and I have their license plates which I will hand over to the local police tomorrow.

Sorry this post is pretty lengthy, but I just felt like sharing because these speakers sound worse than empty cardboard boxes.

Thanks for looking though and I hope none of you ever get caught in this sitation.

              -Ron
