Tattoo Question...

I am wanting to eventually get a tattoo, but I'm not sure. I can't decide what I would want permantly pictured on my body. I want to get something to do with paintball, maybe CPPA art, but I am not sure. Any suggestions? My only requirements is that it is kept clean, something that would be ok to be seen by small children at a church. I want to put something on my leg and on my back - but not really big.

Help please!!

Save $ and Time!

Don't do it!!!

Why would you want to permanently mark your pretty little self? Those things all turn a sickly dark shade of green eventually anyway. Do youself a favor, next time you head to the beach, get a good quality temporary tatoo and wear it around for a few weeks. Let the novelty wear off and then see if you still want one. At the very least, you can test drive the tatoos you are interested in.

Just get what YOU like. I got mine over a year ago and I love it but I got it for ME.
It is on my arm but I think in a years time only 7 people have seen it.
Just remember it is there forever
Stop by a tatoo shop and look around at there samples and pick something out or tell the artist about what you like or would like and you guys should be able to come up with something you like
Hope I could help.

um, RPK? isn't a CPPA tat somewhat of an oxymoron? Ask your Dad about the biblical lessons of marking ones-self.

I think females with ink look tacky at best, despite how pretty or how well the job is done.

Depends. One of my girl friends got a tattoo as her symbol of abstinance (sp). I'm not sure if I will really get a tattoo or not, it is just somethint that I WANT to do. Deciding on something is so difficult, I don't know if I can do it.

Oh and it doesn't matter to me what guys think. My fiance and I were wanting to get our first tattoos together. I won't get a name tattooed on me, right now, maybe after I have children I might get something with my childs name.

well being a little closer to RPK's age I think my opinion is worth a little more.. and I think tat's on girls RAWK. BUT, I don't stand for stuff like pentagrams and that stuff... and nothing really big.

And as for biblical reasons why not to mark you're body, they are NONE! NO where in the bible does it say anything about tattos or piercings that is aplicatable to today standarts. The 2 referances to piercings in the bible are to do with idol worship, and slavery. I know not many ppl know of FBBC ( faith baptist bible collage ) it's just down the block from me and trust me they DON'T alow tattoos or piercings there, but none of the bibls scollars there can give you a biblical reason why a person shouldn't.

Anyway, that said...I think CPPA isnt' a good idea, for something this permanent you don't want to choise names or organizations, friends, family etc. since all those have a tenancy to fall apart and then you have something no one knows about. I drew a simple idea, not even the finishing design for a person that was supposed to be religious, however I have no clue what it is. She called it a sacred heart. The scan is messed up at best but give ya an Idea. If ya think of something and wanna see what it looks like sceched out just let me know and I'll do my best...but you pry know alot of ppl who are artsy in you're area soo...

Personally I would HAVE to have something with flames... I love flames I do on occasion use ink pens to try some skin art.. it lasts a few days at best, but I always have ppl ask me if it's real and how cool the ideas are...

Well said my friend. RPK, do what you "fel" comfortable with. As long as you comfortable with what you have done, no one can tell you it's wrong. I to entertained the idea of a tattoo, but couldn't find anything that iI felt comfortable with so I hae put it off until I do. I may never find anything, but I am open to the possibilities(sp)

First of all RPK, I say go for it full bore! Tattoos are fantastic. I have two and I want more...they do get addicting however. Anyway, as for Army's comment on them eventually becoming a mess of green ink, I think you might be thinking of more "old school" tattoos. And yes, that's the term they use in the industry. "Old school" tattooing involves blending certain base color simple inks to make the other colors you want. The style uses more fat lines and simplistic subjects. Now, modern tattooing utilizes fresh, bright inks that rarely fade much at all and won't transform into a big mess of green over time as long as you observe a few guidelines. I have a big red oriental dragon breathing fire, and originally I was going to have it a bit smaller and with way smaller line work.

My artist explained that a lot of the reason people's tattoos look bad in the later years of their lives is because the design was inked to closely together and over time the skin shifted to make a big amalgamation of ink. According to him, it's a good idea to leave at least an 1/8 of an inch between any lines in your design. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to say that tattoos will look great your whole life...but really, when you're 65 or 70 does ANY part of you look that good? It's not like I'll be running around at 65 showing off my tat.

I say you go for it because unless reincarnation is true you only live once. Have fun, experience as much as you can. I do agree with Heat though, don't get something you might not be into for life. I got my dragon because red is my favorite color, I love asian culture and took martial arts for several years, and I'm a dragon in the Chinese zodiac. That was enough for me to be interested in it for life. (You also don't want to overthink the tattoo and try and make it everything you ever liked all rolled into one. It won't make any visual sense). I don't think tattoos look trashy on women unless you try and make it look trashy. Anyway, I hope this helped give you some advice. Make sure you find a very nice, clean shop with a good artist. By the way, if you need someone to draw it for you PM me, I'd be glad to help. I've done it several times before for people.

Heat, wasn't that the cover of a Dream Theater album?

The thing is, its you ... dont get something thats been done.

I think if you TRULY want to get a tattoo then think of things that are important to you, make a list .... then go to the artist and ask him to design something original for you (or if your artistic design it yourself) and incorperate those things that are important to you .... have something that nobody else has, something that when YOU look at it you see your life ....

Dont get a logo, dont get a name (unless its your child/family maybe) ... its all been done, this is going to be a part of your life for a long time (unless you have the funds to get em removed .. about 5k or so) ... so you should make it something that will have symbolic meaning to you through your life.

Sincerely,
Dave

What I have come up with so far, but still don't know if I want it permenatly on my body is:
an iguana crawling up my leg
a green paintball splat - maybe with a Jesus fish in the center - probably on my left leg somewhere
a gecko - don't know where (also I thought about the gecko before Gieko [sp]) - I thought about having the gecko put on the back of my neck, but I dont think I want to do that now.
I used to work at a pet store and found out how wonderful some animals are that I previously hated. Being forced to handle animals was a good thing!!

Otherwise I dont know. I dont really like alot of stuff. I love green animals, paintball (of course), and I always look forward to going to church. I just dont know. The three ideas I have I have had for a long time - I just cant get the courage to go get them permantly put onto my body, and I don't know which one I would want to do first - the gecko or the paintball splat. The iguana will be done, but what I have in mind will be really expensive.

As for the CPPA art, I don't want the letters CPPA. On the CPPA web site there are some cool paintball pics. This is where I got my idea for the Jesus fish splat! (not blue though, definately green)
