Note to self... don't join the Air Force!

    Ok... story time! YAY!

About 10 people I know have joined various branches of the military. 2 in the marines, 4 in the air force, 3 in the army etc... While waiting for their ship dates alot of smack talk goes down between my friends in different branches... What comes up the most is Air Force vs. Marines.

As any level headed person can see, a Marine will ALWAYS win! hehe.... but anyhoo, we decieded to have a good 'ol paintball match to deciede it. What happened was the one guy who joined the Marines (my other friend is in boot already) picked 5 more of the regular guys who play with us, vs. the Air Force Recruiter and 13 of his recruits!

I think the best way to put it would be: Massacre. We played 4 games, 6 on 13, The "marines" lost one game, and a total of 11 people were eliminated in all four games from that team. It was all Woodsball, fight to the last man. It was probably the best time I have had playing paintball in a very long time. I went up just to watch and video tape it iniatally, I didn't have the cash to feed my SFL, and I thought it was only people who where an armed forces recruit could play... But one of my friends on the "marines" had to leave to go to work, so he let me use his Tippmann A-5 RT.

That gun is GREAT! A few things annoyed me, but the hopper design wasn't one of them. I think its great, and its smaller then it looks, only about 2 inches off the side. In speedball that could be a problem, but how we play it was un-noticeable. Using the stock barrel the thing was very accurate, and consistant, just loud. Didn't chop a ball out of the 1,000 or so that was fired through it, even on the runaway RT Fullauto. The only things that bugged me were the fact that it felt a little be too plastic-y for me. the gripframe, foregrip, hopper, among other things were all made of plastic, and it just didn't feel right on a Tippmann. But I would still reccomend this gun to anyone.

But overall it was a fun days play... The best is when I shot the Air Force recruiter through a hole in a bush. He didn't seem to notice me shooting a line right through it, and walked right into it... and then he just yelled the loudest expletive I have ever heard! My friend who is a Marine Recruit mopped the floor with them too. He was averaging around 5-6 kills (ok, Eliminations) per game. Whats funny is that while pretty much the entire Air Force was using Model 98's, the Marine Recruit was only using a Maverick pump. I guess playing with that for 2 years will get you some skills!

Well, you also have to understand that they are both trained differently. If you want to learn how to kill someone, make little money, and have no job skills when you get out then go for the marines. If you want to learn a job that you can use when you get out, get a ton of money bonuses, and have big money jobs waiting for you when you get out of the serivce then go for Air Force. You also have to realize that what they're taught in boot camp can not be realistically (SP?) or effectively used in a paintball game. And my opinion on this is totally unbiased because I'm in the army ... and BTW they own all.

      Now hold on

I think you have the wrong idea as to the way the military works. If you're in the Army now, you sound pretty ignorant and make the Army sound kinda bad, and yes thats a flame. Let tell you that to say the Marine Corp is only there to kill (well, thats a big part) and gives NO JOB/SKILLS is so wrong. Yes, in the Marines you are infantry first, but like every other brach, they have special jobs, not all of which are even directly combat related. There are many skills and positive personal attributes that come out the Marines and other forces that a person can use long after service ends. And to say that the Air Force as a collective has a bunch of high tech, big money civilian jobs is kinda missleading as well. Every brach, Air Force included has it's low test score jobs. Like the Army(I'm in the Army as well)only requires a 32(I think) to get in, but the high skill jobs and big civilian job skills are available as the score goes up. I hope you're enlightened. Are you a private? Or a good ole boy NCO that has crappy boots and fails PT tests? Cause you sure as heck don't sound too high speed there.

yeah... My friend who joined the Marines is going to be in Intelligence with his ultimate goal to be part of the Cia/Fbi. That is pretty much assured if he proves himself in the Marine corps.

Even if he doesnt go career, He can go to college throught he GI bill, and get a high paying job for free.

I didn't mean to sound like I was flaming or ignorant, part of my post was serious and part was slightly exaggerated. Quite honestly, I have several friends and family members that were in the Marines and all but a few are working in construction now (nothing wrong with it, just not where I want to be if I decide to leave before my 20). And those friends that I mentioned are the ones who told me what I previously posted when I mentioned I wanted to join the marines. And, I scored quite well on my ASVABs, I'm in communications repair and will be leaving for RIP soon, so I'm sorry if I came off as slow as you put it, but I can assure you I am far from it.

Anyway, the whole reason I made that first post was because he was flaming the AF because they lost in a paintball match ...

Just curious but did any of they USAF guys have an A-5 RT and the Knowledge of how to use it effectively in a game??? Did in fact any of the Air Force guys have paintball experience??
I think your "masacre" has a little less to do with what element you're in, than how much paintball experience the 'marines' had.

I was in air force ROTC for a day, then decided my talents were better spent elsewhere. Many of my friends are air force or army, but I'm a mercenary! BTW, we know it as Chair Force!

I'm not flaming any branch of the armed forces... I'm just saying that numbers don't always win battles.

On the USAF side they almost ALL had Model 98's, a few were slightly upgraded, and a few had some spyders.

On the "marines" side there was the A-5, Maverick pump (only pump on the field), 2 spyders and 2 model 98's. I am sure that the A-5 was the best gun out there... I only used it for two of the four games, the other two I was recording it on a video camera. My friend left for work and asked if I wanted to use it... I jumped for it! I didn't come prepared for paintball though, I was wearing a bright orange shirt, while everyone else had camo on... it was still fun though.

About half of the USAF guys had played before, a few of them with us. So it was really about 6 on 6 with them having alot of cannon fodder... hehe... Another thing is that we know the place where we play at like the back of our hand. We've been playing there for about 2-3 years now, and we know every nook and cranny. With that we were able to know where to run, and where not to run when the firing started, which gave us an advantage.

I'm still going to call it a massacre simply because the AF Sargeant was talking alot of crap before and during the game. Of course he wasn't serious, but he was still taught his lesson! He is a really cool guy though, and we all knew he was kidding.
