    Rember the AO golden days?

I miss the "golden days." You guys remember when there only use to be one sales forum, dealers forum, pball talk, friendly corner, tech forum, and deep blue then that was it? Those days are gone now and probably will never come back. AO use to be such a friendly little community. I remember, donggie use to run the dealers forum and dingo was still around. Then some of our new "bad apples" pretty much chased him away(they acted like 2 year olds and that everything was Don's fault) Don got upset after that and we never heard from him again . . .(I heard there were other reasons involved with him leaving but still, these guys gave him such a hard time!) Tunaman use to post more often and he rarely does that anymore . People like autotrigger were around and he had that insane mag with the Zgrip and 15* ASA. There was also gizmolax who tried forever to sell his super tippy :). People would RARELY flame, and there was never "stupid crappy blowback newb go shoot yourself" impression from people. Mag resale value was much higher and a stock mag would sell for $200. Everyone's ref list pretty much had everyone else on AO. The best part of all, no body ever IT WAS GREAT!
Then more people started pouring in like CRAZY since Pbnation was slowing down and pbcity went down for a while
and with those people came many bad apples. I'm not saying new people ruined it, just that too many bad apples came with them. Those bad apples brought the "big forum ways" to AO. People came mostly to sell there stuff and not caring about AO itself(not saying they should, but majority of people who were there first DID!) When they were offered a blowback their response would be like "I'll give you an oring for it and your life, you stupid blowback owner." I had an angel owner who swore at me in pm and said all kinds of colorful language and told me my mag parts suck because angels rule. All I wanted is to know if he'd be interested in trading some of his barrels for some of my mag stuff. They started selling their stuff in the dealers forum and they weren't even dealers! Everything pretty much got ruined for the rest of us that stood there and watched. I wish what we use to have would come back . . . .

You weren't around for the old days...

There was no Friendly Forum in the old days nor was there Deep Blue. There wasn't a fancy dancy home page either, it was old school.

This site was really sweet back then

From what I know, it's good then that the guy Dingo you liked left. Supposedly he ripped a few people (if he's Dingo Paintball). That's what I heard. Those aren't even really old days, just like 3 months ago, lol. You want to talk old, go back to when there was no Deep Blue, Frielndly, Angel, or all the individual For Sale forums.

I think the site is nice now, altho it was much different a year ago or so.

Its good in some ways to have more people, the only problem is that we get more stupid people too

The best thing i can get from this is; It's a sign that AGD is getting recognized more.

Now the people I really do dislike are the stragglers who join just for the parties and then the ones that win something and you never see them again. They irk me.

I don't care if the win the prizes honestly- it just shows Tom that his "parties" are posted all over every other forum as a chance to win a free gun they can sell. They win the gun and sell it and return to their normal forums.

The good old days were before this forum turned into a giant advertisement promotion. We didn't create magazine ads, slogans or anything of the sort.

Back then, the forums weren't filled with a bunch of mooches, suck-ups and mods dictating the forum. No one asked for "feedback" in the traders forums, no one ever ripped any one off. It was a diffrent place- similar to POG- more active though.

Not complaining about the changes honestly..

You can't consider June as the "golden days", the forum has changed alot. It has lost alot of the old timers because of the evolution, but has gained 100 new users for every old timer.

Benny! Benny....Benny...a couple of things here...
Yes, the forums HAVE changed a bit. Lots of new faces, lots of new dealers. You have had to notice that paintball is becoming THE fastest growing sport in america. That is bound to bring in more new people of all races and creeds. We all must look upon these new people as the next paintball players. We do welcome all that can behave here on AO. As for the good old times, I have been around here plenty long enough to understand what you are talking about. I KNOW exactly how you feel. Please try to be patient and considerate with all the new guys. We will certainly weed out the bad ones eventually. As for me, I feel you have missed an important part of AO that is stareing you right in the face. I see MANY new faces here, and one of them is YOU! YOU have become a part of what is making AO the greatest forum on the net! YOU are one of the reasons that I stay here! YOU are one of the guys who has enough guts to speak up about what you think is wrong here. If more people like YOU join this forum, this place will keep getting better and better. If we all ask around about who to trade with, and report bad posts from Knuckleheads to the Mods, and continue to exibit good sportsmanship and proper conduct, this AO place will rock for years to come. Stay cool bro...this is the right place, and YOU are the right kind of people we want here.

I don't remember any of that, and joined only a few months later than you... but I think we should welcome new members with open arms, I mean, even if you don't like em, they're gonna be here, and we should learn to live in relative harmony on the forums. No sense in complaining about "better days"...you should try to find the "silver lining" in these times. Like right now, I'm grounded for 2 weeks (yes and it's my senior year in HS ), some sophomore started crap with me today, and I am heavy debt with no job, but I still try to look at the good side of things! It's better that way.

Sorry to those who thought I was saying that new people are dumb and should leave for ME to be happy with the forum about a year ago. I was just thinking when I saw all the "I'm leaving paintball sales" and I only dislike the "bad apples". I mean I know one of them in person, he lives in my town and he's probably that guy with my name in his sig trying to mock me, because for once I didn't take his side. He does transactions 24/7 and gets a new gun every other week. He doesn't care about the people, only that he can buy/sell frequently. He ripped off a few people, and if I even mentioned his sn irbodden will hit a light bulb. I'm pretty sure I know his current name but I'm not going to announce it until I know for sure. IT'S PEOPLE LIKE THIS THAT MAKE ME SICK!

                        other than that MERRY CHRISTMAS

I remember the golden days when there was no AO, cause all 5 (obvious exagerration) of us that had a computer AND a mag chatted on #paintball on IRC's effnet. :)

B.C. - I kind of know what you mean, but I just don't get involved in some of that kind of stuff. I've never flamed anyone (seriously, it's the internet, what's it going to do?), never dissed anyone's gear ('cept my "RL" friend's purple spyder, hehe), never had a bad trade yet, and don't talk politics on here. I find it's made AO a much more pleasent experience. If I want to argue with people, I'll talk to my sister. The influxes of new people are cyclic, and the people that aren't positive members eventually leave, anyway, and we always get a few good, new members, then AO calms down a bit, then back to the beginning. I am a little bit nostalgic for the AO of old, but you need to look to the future. There have been improvements, though. I like the seperated Buy/Sell forums, and the addition of the friendly corner (yes, I've been here that long). Anyway, AO needs to grow and change, and I think we're just having some growing pains.
