    1980 Z28 Camaro Questions

I am looking for another car right now because my 1993 beretta is dying. I have an offer of a 1980 z28 camaro with 86K original miles a 350 AT, AC, cowl induction hood, aluminum wheels, new battery. It is a two owner car that has been in Arizona its whole life. It could use a paint job and the interior could use some "refreshing" but the body looks great. The guy wants $2000 for it.

-Do you think it is a good deal?
-How will this 190hp 350 camaro compare to my 2002 montecarlo ss with its 200hp V6?

I'll have pics up in a sec. Thanks for the help.

That car looks terrible for only having 86k miles on it. I say save your money and look at some other cars. For $2000 you could get a car that is atleast a 1990. Plus paint isn't cheap and don't you want some safety features? Good luck searching.

That car is a CLASSIC/ANTIQUE! Camaros of that age/era in that condition are extremely hard to find as well. I say get it. My brother has a fully retored 77' Camaro LT with a 383 stroker nestled between it's front fenders and it's a blast to drive. With a few mods and a little TLC, that car could turn into a very, very nice ride.
As far as comparing it's 190 HP 5.7L V8 to your 3.8L V6, performance will be about the same, except the 'maro will do a lot more tire smoking.

heh, yah, I'd put some work into it before I'd drive it and I wouldn't make it my daily driver. My bro keeps his camaro in a garage and uses his 98' Blazer as his daily driver.

I had one that I paid 400 bux for :) But mine had no heater, seatbelts, or smog equipment. Oh yeah and it was gutted :)

But really it's not a bad ride as long as it runs. Who cares about performance as it sits there. The chevy 350 is one of the easiest motors to mod for performance. You can find parts for them somewhat easily, although I see it has all 4 fender flares. I couldn't find those at all, unless I wanted to give my right arm for them.

Well I can't test drive it till after christmas so will have to wait and see how it drives and looks in person. I really am looking for a daily driver but want something with a little more power. 1980 is about the newest one I have looked at. Mostly interested in 70s trans ams, camaros and corvettes but would like to find a 1969 el camino ss with a 454 too. Guess I will keep looking for now. I will keep you updated as things change. Thanks for the input.

its not an classic/antique here in arizona it has to be 30 or more years older to be consider an antique and it not that hard to find a comaro of that year in arizona .and for 2000 you can get something better then that. you just have to keep an eye out for you best deal and if you can't find any thing better then that i would go for it.
Use a table to get it smaller in over all hight

It must be a classic or antique. There's some type of law back in MA that states that antiques are not subject to emissions, and antique is defined as any vehicle over 20 years of age.

and if you're looking for a daily driver, I would consider something else, like your Monte Carlo. I wouldn't expect a camaro of that era to do any better than 15 around town and 20-25 on the highway.
