If you're talkin about the Fellowship of the Ring, it's good, but if you're gonna buy it I highly recommend the special edition 4 disc set, or the 5 disc set if you've got a lot of money. As for the Two Towers, I just got back from seeing it, and it's well worth your money.

i saw it on Wed. It was pretty cool. I loved the part where the elf guy with the bow and arrows mounts the horse. dworf is riding the horse and the elf guy is shooting his arrows then he just grabs the strap of the horse as it passes by and does those awsome flip. I've never seen the first one but i guess i cought on pretty quickly.

                *POSSIBLE SPOILER*

It was good, obviiously the book was much better (I don't remember there being elves manning the wall at helm's deep when I read it.) Needless to say they better wow me with the last one.

                  *small spoiler*

Coming from a huge Tolkien fan, seeing this movie was so awsome. However, I did not enjoy it as much as the first and I think it will be the least entertaining of the trilogy. Certain parts of the movie we boring, such as the ents-they could have at least gone into more detail and made them a bigger part of the overall story instead of having little 30 second showings during parts of Helms Deep. But parts such as Gollum and Smeagels (sp) struggle and Helms Deep cough*LEGOLAS*cough made up for some of the lesser parts. However one thing that seriously bugged me was the ending, they cut off so much, they left out Shelob and Gandalf and Theoden riding to Isengard to have a little "chat" with Sauraman. However the ending sort of made sense to me after I got to thinking. The third installment was the shortest, story wise, half the book is the appendicies so they need more from the two towers to make it the length it needed to be....all in all as a Tolkien fan I'd give it a 7.5, as a movie guy i'd give it a 9...

                    **SPOILERS ......... again**

Yeah they left out the whole deal of Wormtongue throwing one of the seeing stones at Gandalf and Samwise picking it up. They leftout the whole thing with him yearning to touch it, and after he did all of his worst dreams were set before his eyes, etc. They are really stressing Tolkien's theme behind the story in the movies though. Tolkien really thought that machines were evil and the time of innocence was passing. This all was going on during the time he wrote the books (1940s if I recall correctly.) If you'll notice, the enemy is all industrialized while all the rest of Middle Earth are still working.

The Battle of Helm's Deep was completely awesome. Gimli had a little too much comic relief thrown in. All these orcs are stomping their pikes and stuff and Gimli's saying stupid lines like "You could have picked a better spot." I really think Legolas is glamorized too much. Sure he's cool but everyone I talk to is like "OMFG Legolas owns all the others are gay and stupid kthx." I also really liked the ending when Gandalf and the Riders of Rohan charged downhill straight towards the Orcs.

I really liked the way Ents were portrayed. Well that's about all I have to say there. Sam's portrayal wasn't right on the mark (in my mind) and Gollum was pretty close to what I imagined. Leaving Shelob out was a smart move on Jackson's part. if they showed Shelob there wouldn't be any segway into the next movie.

The music in this one wasn't anything special. The music in the first one was FANTASTIC!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, go back and watch the first one and specifically listen to the music.

                    I guess that's it.

I was looking forward to shelob sooo much!

When I went to see the movie, I was sooooo looking forward to seeing Shelob..... Oh well, I only have to wait another 365 days....

And I agree that they should have shown more of the ents. When I read the books I had a hard time imagining them, but the movie did a good job - though I thought they'd be bigger.

It is definitely a "must see" movie!!

Well i saw the movie and it was awesome. I never read any of the books so I wouldnt know. Other then the fact that it was a great movie but there where some slow part. Id also have to agree on the humor. The little dwarf was funny but they just kinda took it to far.

Yeah I agree, they ruined his character with all the "short" jokes, even though I thought that particular scene was funny. Also, is it just me or did he fall off of a horse like 5 times? A bit overdone!
