its internet because the name of the military project that created the internet was ARAPAnet.
btw, al gore was instrumental in the development of arapanet, and the funding of it, so if we didnt have him we would have the internet, betya didnt know that

The precursor to the Internet, ARPANET was a large wide-area network created by the United States Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA). Established in 1969, ARPANET served as a testbed for new networking technologies, linking many universities and research centers. The first two nodes that formed the ARPANET were UCLA and the Stanford Research Institute, followed shortly thereafter by the University of Utah

I do, and without having to do a search ... also I quoted the above because I was too lazy to type ... holding two linux certifications, testing for my Solaris certification, and working 45 hours a week on HP-UX 11i, and SunOS 2.8 machines I do happen to know a little about ARPA and foundings of the ARPAnet (later Internet) ... and beginnings of HTML and WWW ... espically having spent time on GOPHER search's and "browsing" text only with Lynx

never used lynx myself unfortunately, but i did grow up and was using the net before html. of course i was just playing MUDS. ahh those were the days. so little spam, if any. back then the net was for adults or for punk kids like me who had a computer. none of this crap about making the net easier or safer for kids or the elderly. bah.

lopxtc, do u miss the old days?
