You have no idea ... I would trade the Internet in an instant for a good WWIV BBS running a halfway decent Trade Wars game ...

On the whole I find that I spend my time at like 5 websites (not counting e-mail) and that in general I spend less time on the internet then I did on BBS's.

I tended to visit boards based on Renegade, and my personal favorite door game was Legend of the Red Dragon.

I also tend to agreed with the primary amount of time spent on about the same 5 web sites, not counting email.

Yes, I originally used Lynx to browse the web, but then again back then you would tend to spend more time with Gopher or Archie and on Newsgroups.

Now the real question is how slow was your first modem?

I'm not under the alkafluence of inkahol that some thinkle peep I am. It's just the drunker I sit here the longer I get...

My first home modem was a 300 baud connected to a C64 used to dial-up to CompuServe in the mid 80's ...

That was slowly upgraded to a 1200 baud modem and shortly their after to an ANSI compatable dialer still on my C64. Used at this point to check out WWIV and Telengard/Renegade Multi-Line BBS's ... Took me four days to download the dialer because on the C64 it was four disks, and took 56 mins to download at 1200 baud, all on "user level" that allowed me only 60 mins a day. I would dial in at 2230, start my download logout at 2330, wait till 0000 and dial back in to get the other parts.

Hmm...Early Internet, BBS, Renegade...brings back memories...

Got my first PC in '81 (IBM PC)
          Got a C64 in '82.
Got a 300baud modem in '84, used to access BBS's.
In '86 upgraded the IBM PC (640K RAM, 5MB HD, Hurcules Graphics, double density 5.25 floppies, 1200baud modem).
Many machines after that (286, a few 386's)
          Started my BBS in '91.
Got my home Internet connection in '92 (Dial-in Terminal)
Upgraded by BBS to Renegade in '93
Upgraded Internet conncetion to a SLIP account and used Mosaic.
          Shut down BBS in '97
Spend way too much time on automags.org in '02.

That's about the prgression of my computer interests.

EDIT: and have been an network analyst since '96.
