gereto which is quite different, anyways, i figure this is a good oppurtunity for me to bone up on my katakana, and a good oppurtunity for everyone else to figure out how to write their name in japanese.

aight jon, heres your name

translated its jon. actually phonetically the "o" is a bit accented, the o is an o sound, like you say the character o. damn thats confusing. so its joe n and the n is kinda said like saying 'nice' but holding back the ice. just the n sound.

the first character is CHI but with the two chon chons (the little stripes, the smaller ones) it becomes a JI. the character under the JI is a YO. since its smaller and under the JI it turns it into JO. the other character is N

there is no L in japanese. R is rolled and sounds a lot like it (in fact native japanese adults cant tell the difference, its really funny)

in normal japanese words, there is only WA no WI WU WE or WO. but for foreign words theyve created new combos for em. so that U with a little E under it becomes WE like in WET.

and then MU
its important to remember, U and the I in SH are downplayed a lot, you never really even hear them really.
