Who is going into the military and what do you plan on doing?

    self explanatory.

I am 18, and right now busting *** to get ready to join the navy and take the challenge of becoming a SEAL. Just interested in what everyone else is wanting to do if they go in.
    Famous SEAL quotes:
"Give us your mind, and we will take care of your body"

"We aren't superman, he does things the hard way. Why leap tall buildings in a single bound, when you can blow it up and walk over the rubble"

"Pain is just weakness leaving the body"

"It is not my job to judge our enemies, that is God's job, it is my job to arrange the meeting"

"I will treat you all the same, JUST LIKE CRAP!"

If I joined the military, i'd go in as an officer. But not able to since I have asthma. DAMN! Anyways, wish you luck on becoming a SEAL. Kill a terrorist for me. Better yet, capture one and film his whimpering and send it out on the internet with the caption "No virgins for him!".

I have no plans for the military, but it seems a wave of nationalism has taken over my friends.

2 guys joined the Marines, one is going into Intelligence the other is going to be an embassy guard or something... I forgot exactly (Coincidence: he is graduating from boot camp today, and is going to be home tomorrow)

4 guys joined the Air Force, I don't know what they are doing in there. I think one is going to be a mechanic of some sort, but I can't tell ya for sure.

2 more people joined the Army. I'll just leave it at that.

There were alot more, but I probably forgot about them.

Have you seen that show on the Discovery Channel BUD/s? Its a great in depth look at the training of the Seals. I KNOW its something I'll never be able to do, but if you make it through that, you'll forever have my respect.
Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?

Thats funny, the Air Force is the weakest of all armed forces. Six week boot camp which is mostly only instructional Where'd they stick you? At least in the Navy you get to go places.

Well I *ALMOST* was a Marine. On the physical day(the day i take all my physical exams and sign my life away), i past all the tests except the last one. The eye exam. My recruiters knew I had bad eyes.....but they didnt know it was THAT bad. The Marines couldnt even give me a waiver my eyes were so bad.....oh well, i really wanted to be a marine....but i guess its ok, my life is great now. Maybe it wasnt my destiny.

I was signed up to go into Avionics, i scored pretty high on the ASVAB(sp?) test....so they wanted me to do something smart :P I think my recruiter wanted me to go into NBC...but the thought of who knows what I could get exposed to, didnt appeal to me.

Yeah I will only be stuck on a boat for at most a year. But in my opinion that is just more time to bust *** and get in better shape. I am gonna sign up under the SEAL contract so I am guaranteed a shot at BUD/s, sometime soon after I finish my A school. As of right now I am trying to figure out what source rating I want to do, I need to pick something I am interested in, just incase I get rolled back due to medical reasons or something. As far as the air force goes, while it would be fine I guess, I am not the type to fly an airplane, more the type to jump out of one at ungodly altitudes. :) But I still got a while before I go in, I want to be halfway competent in Spanish so I can start with language pay. But I do appreciate all the people that said good luck, and I am not sure who the enemy will be when I am in, but I promise to have a collection of ears when I return

I did my time years ago, but my little brother is still in the navy. His main trade is subsurface electronics, but he also coordinates and leads ship boarding/search teams. He's been in the gulf since last summer.

I think that Chris Rock said it best:

"I aint killin noooobody....I dont give a [Fdarn] about a [Fgosh darn] Russina tank rollin down Pennsylvania Avenue...I aint killin nobody....So call me a [homosexual], at the end of the war ill be a [homosexual] walkin around with two legs like 'hey, whats up??!?'"

Yep...thats pretty much my opinion in a nutshell

It is patriotism that you are talking about, not nationalism.
actaully nationlaism is an extreme form of patriotism. so i dont know what the prob is? maybe you were thinking of nationlization (sp?) which is a immigrant becoming a US citizen

And Jingoism is an extreme form of Nationalism! and it can go another million ways from there, but in the long run it doesnt really matter!
