You guys should take it easier on Halb.

If you read the old accounts of bear sighting in the old west (read the Bear in the Southwest a while back) most of the stories start with the bear running while getting shot at. Eventually the hunters injure and corner it and are extremely surprised when it suddenly would turn and maul a member of the hunting party before they managed to dispatch it. Bears (and other wildlife) being displaced from their habitat is a sad story. With ranching and settlement of people it was unavoidable but we can still acknowledge that it is a tragedy.

As far for this bear charging the person it is entirely possible (sorry Halb). They are wild animals and are not predictable (especially when protecting something). I would have done the same thing if a bear was charging me (of any size). Still it is sad that such a magnificent animal is not still wandering around.

You know what troubles me about this. they shot and killed
an animal intentionally and with absolutely no intention
of eating it! (according to the newspaper account grizzley
meat is not eaten and was intentionally hunted)

While I personally don't hunt, I don't object to hunting
so long as YOU KILL IT YOU EAT IT anything else is just
murdering an animal for the sake of murder.

I grew up on a farm I know exactly were my steak and leather jacket comes from.

I don't see why Halb should be banned. Maybe something was edited that I missed but he wasn't offensive. He was controversial but not offensive.

Yes I have heard all of these things as well. Shartley speaks the truth. Don't immediately assume the ball position. If you hike in Glacier National Park they make you take these bear training courses. At the time (in my early 20s) I remember being insulted as I believed I would have no trouble escaping a bear. Older and wiser now I realize it was the typical over confidence of youth (read stupidity).

When he steps up and acts like a man, we will treat him as one. His psuedo-intellectual rants are tired. He hits the curse filter much too often. He starts a thread about his home being broken into and then attacks any point of view that differs from his own idea of self defense. He makes up facts to suit his needs. When called upon to produce these facts, he vanishes. I really got into it with him on another thread about the coming Persian Gulf War where he was able to stun the world and declare Iraq as free of weapons of mass distruction.

Sorry but if you are going to spout bull dung, don't go crying when it lands all over you. Also my favorite message to him: Figures don't lie, but liars can figure.

P.S. He hits the curse filter way to often in an attempt to be a grown-up.

seems he has a learning disability here.

most people after getting canned from ONE forum would figure out they're doing something to piss people off. especially moderators.

apparently he can't get it through his bony skull that his behaviour is causing HIM more trouble than any one else.

I have no interest in "taking it easy" on someone who repeatedly insults other users, repeated breaks simple, well known rules, and constantly abuses the swear filter.

Any abuse dumped on him is well deserved.

I personally don't care if he espouses a different opinion than mine, he's wrong of course, but he's free to say it just the same.

Still it is one thing to say, "once again Halb I disagree with everything you say and don't buy any of your facts" (not that I am one of those that always disagrees with him) and "somebody should slap your parents silly for having sired you". One is fine with me but the other is just getting nasty.

I said, they ought to be slapped bald for having whelped him.

as far as being nasty? tough nuts. when he decides to start treating the rest of us who've had to deal with him, the way you think he ought to be treated, the rest of us will respond in kind.
