aight, a half year ago i installed a friends copy of counterstrike on me computer so i could play it at a lan party. i used his cd key. so anyways, i finally buy the platinum pack with all the half life games or whatever, and so i get all the cd keys so i can play online without screwing up his cd key. aight, i go to install it. i put in the cd key for platinum only. nothing else axed for the key. i go to install CS, and the instructiosn say it MAY ax for the key, then again it may not. i installed it and all the other cds. i uninstalled teh old version before. should i assume that its just using the platinum cd key, or that its my friends cd key and i might be screwing him over?

My brother did the same thing with my key from the original version of HL. A day later he bought the Platnum edition. Once he installed it all, it was using his key and had dropped mine.

i forgot one the name of the key is but its pretty obvious... something like 'serial' or 'netid' or something like that.

Get on a server an type "status" (no quotes) in console. You can then see your WonID. Have your friend do the same. Then if you have diff WonID's you know you are good. If they are the same, then go ahead and completely uninstall CS and delete everything in the sierra folder(Example path: C:\SIERRA Yours MIGHT be different). After you reinstall, it should ask for your CD Key the first time you start up half life. Hope this helpsComment

no need to uninstall, go to hkey_current_user > software > valve > half-life > settings and then double click the "key" file to change your cd key, just enter it with no hyphens.Comment

or you can just go to google and type in half life cd key changer and get a cd key changer and just type in urs and WALOAH! it changes!Dub V

if you changed the cdkey in the registry and used the one off the case from a cd that you bought new, then theres no way it could be in use unless someone is really good at guessing #'s.Comment

normally you click multiplayer than internet games then open up filters and check the box that says something to the effect of play this game and click cstrike on the list
then hit ok then click update(unless your using something else)Comment
