Need help with DV video editing.

I just made a video for school project, and i need tips on editing. I will be using MGI VideoWave , and i have never used it before. Can someone please give me pointers. And what resolution does mini DV run at? cause i need to make somethings in photoshop and import then, like intro logo.

the tip i need the most is i need to know how to freeze a frame for like 10 seconds and how to turn a clip into black and white

Just make your resolution for the images 800x600... it should work for size... Remember, always have the safe zone on titles, always place them at least 10% away from the edge since it might be cut out. Also try to keep a lot of cuts and use minimal zoom shots.
