BTW the CS 1.6 is a BETA test. It's not a release. It's going to be distributed via Steam beta 2. Please remember this. It is a very important fact.

Steam is a content delivery system which requires broadband (256k+) connectivity. Steam will greatly help with the anti cheat efforts from Valve. There are many ways that Steam can be used to shut lame cheaters down.

petefol I agree completly, sound is a very powerful tool in FPSs, and in no way is it cheating. Headphones will help you locate sounds in the games more accuratly than speakers.

1.6 is hardly beta, CS was released from beta at 1.0, betas before that were Beta 8, Beta 5, etc etc

Im surprized CS is actually coming out with NEW things since the all-cs-destroying 1.0 retail version. I might actually download see how long it takes before im disgusted by cheaters and imsobetterthanyoun00bs

I'm afraid you have a misunderstanding of how software testing works. The Steam Beta 2 version of CS 1.6 is indeed beta. When it is doen being tested, it will be released as a normal file (non Steam based) for people to download.

Just because there has been a release, does not mean there can be other beta testing. Any new release should be alpha and beta tested to make sure things are working as intended on a cross section of client systems.
