Anyone heard anything about these people? Like how is their customer service, are they helpful, good with orders, etc....

    Alienware

Have heard some mixed reviews about them....expensive and heavy, but fast. You may want to try a Sager laptop from discountlaptops.com...great prices on powerful notebooks.

    Hope this helps.

While expensive..they are the best damned computers you can buy. I am pretty for the desktops they have amazing customer service.. but not sure on laptops. It's kinda harder..I would think.

Alienware makes some kick ... laptops ... custom coloured cases (check out chameleon) along with a matching mouse (for the right $$$) ...

Also the only company I have seen offering the P4 3Gig CPU with HyperThreading ...

Horrible support.... They routinely send you the wrong stuff, and at the same time, they charge your credit card immediately.

I've heard many stories of them taking 2 months to build computers with less-than-uncommon parts. =\

Stick with voodoopc or something else. =)

the best computer for the price is one you buy and put together yourself. i guess you cant really do that with a laptop tho.

A big thing with alienware is how they test everything together to make sure it runs great with games.

Well an hour of online research can go pretty far. If that isn't enough the return policy at your local computer store should solve any other problems you have. Save a couple hundred (or more) and build your own or shop locally.

Nothing I have said has anything to do with laptops. Oh well

Alienware laptops are kickass for about 40 mins... then you have to plug them in. They are kickass systems but we do not have the battery life right now to be running the kind of hardware that they have in that machine. You also have to remember that with all the cool hardware comes weight an size. If you dont mind 10+ pounds and a huge case then its all good. The thing that turned me away most was the battery life. I ended up with a dell (i know... i know...) laptop and havent regretted it. It is light at about 5.5 pounds and is fast enough for what i need to do on the go. You might want to look around before getting the alienware.

Alienware is a VERY reputable company .. they use upgradeable components in their systems and they're very performance oriented ... plus they cater to that "geek" side and give you some aesthetically pleasing cases/setups... but they are expensive.

But if you just wanna know about the company then I say they are VERY good. Being a computer tech for a Fortune company and troubleshooting various systems all day long I have a big respect for the durability and quality of their setups.

                  Sincerely,
                  Dave K

I don't think it works that way....because of the mobile radeon it and the high 2.8 it drains the battery FAST no matter what it is. I THINK

Yes this is correct. We dont have the battery technology to make these laptops worth while. They are basically desktop computers which are more compact and have a built in screen. this isnt a bad thing but you wont really be able to use it as a mobile machine like many other laptops which have 3hour + battery lives.

If you want the experts to build you the best desktop with the nices crafstmanship, you cannot beat Falcon Northwest!! They routinely tromp the competition (includeing Voodoo PC, Alienware, etc) in head to head speed competition. I dont know what they do different, but whatever it is it works! Customer support is TOP NOTCH also.

Falcon Northwest custom builds the fastest PCs for gamers, creators, workstation & business use. We build systems for those who want more than an off-the-shelf PC.

BUT, Alienwares are slightly cheaper and pretty much as fast. I'm not knocking Alienware at all. I have just heard mixed reviews as some people have stated here. They are the only ones who make a "gameing" laptop too. I think CPU magazine did a review of thier laptop and said it was a godsend to the traveling gamer. So it can't be all that bad if you got the cash.

BTW: you can build your own system that will be just as fast (if not faster) than Alienware or Falcon Desktops for almost half what you will pay them. But it may not look as pretty inside.
