Wow, that really was an interesting read. I think the article was well-written, and I have to somewhat agree with the author's opinion on Bush (IMO the guy's an idiot, who has just cruised along the yellow-brick road his father has laid out for him). What I want to know is, where can I get one of those "Peace is also Patriotic." stickers?
I bet a lot of other countries are against war in Iraq too, but can't really say they won't. Bush basically has used the "you're either for us, or you're against us" policy throughout his anti-terrorism campaign, so what choice does this leave most other countries?

But we should also remember that there is a difference between a well mannered discussion and a open flame fest (that seems to have taken over the CS 1.6 thread). I know this is a paintball forum, and people come here to see paintball realted items. Well if thats the case why have a Friendly corner at all?
The possible war with Iraq is going to be touching a LOT of people on this forum. People already in the service and people that could possible be drafted (like me, if it comes to that). I am trying to see all sides of that possible war now, to find out where I should stand.Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?

well If I may I'd like to add a few things to this.
War is the result when deplomacy fails. My experiance with ppl from the middle east tells me they more often then not use war before deplomacy. Which is also the case here. I'll never forget sadam hussein asking Bush to a one on one to resolve their differances.
My uncle, who has 2 beautiful children was just called into duty. It was totally unexpected. Mostly because we would we are going to war with something like 1/4 or the troops that we would like to have to effectivly combat saddam.
Lastly, having lived in Europe for 14 years of my life I can tell you.. .Europeans HATE Americans. They imitate our every whim, but hate us to the bone. It's mostly jealousy, but never the less when we wage war they really let the cat outta the bag with articles just like that one.
In recent days a movie was released and it never made it into the theaters in American. Mostly for it's unpatriotic and accusing views or columbine. That being said it was a real big hit in Europe cause it was directed by an American. And all the Europeans cry... SEE WHAT AMERICAS LIKE, THEY ARE EVIL! The starring caracter in the movie btw is marlin manson.
America might not be 100% on the up and up here with our war on Iraq. But I don't know and so not to display my ignorance I will not touch on that. But for sure Europe is on a anti-american hate trip and would rather complain ( as always) then actually do something about it and risk standing up for anything of fear to be great like AmericaComment

And the differance there is that ONE member braged about doing something obviously wrong. How would you like bubba rubb in your neighborhood braging about his noisy cars? Hackers in CS is a serious problem. That is why so many ppl are really upset about someone who's braging about doing wrong. It's not a flame fest, it's standing up for what's right. There's not limit to that.Originally posted by TheFlamingKoosh

im with shartleys 1st post... i am all for freedom of speach, i respect the author ( and your ) opinion, but i do not see this as the proper venue to bring it up... go over to votenowar.org or what ever the site is and bring it up there, or one of the other political forums... this forum was created to discuss cars, movies, science projects, nuclear reactors, well just about anything but racial, religious, and political stuff.
end of my opinion on this subject. ( trust me you dont want to hear my opinion on what other countrys think about the US or my opinion on the PC crowd)
and remember this quote
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
-S. G. Tallentyre / Voltaire
Often quoted as
" i may not agree with what you have to say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it.""You have not converted a man because you have silenced him." -John Morley

In my world history class our teacher had us read several articles and other various sources that talked about what other countries thought about us Americans. I was really suprised at how many other countries hate us (many of them with very good reasons) and how many people in America are oblivious to that fact. I honestly believe we shouldn't be in Iraq right now, but due to the posted rules I'll leave it at that.

Before I close this, I want to get my shot in (yeah, I'm breaking the rules).
It is laughable to hear from people that have no intell, nor insight, on the workings of our government or what its plans are. The USA has rarely jumped into a situation without knowing the facts. Need I remind our British writing friend, that the USA was the only means of their NOT speaking German at this time...or last time too?
Israel is independant of the USA, their thumbing their noses at us in their actions should be enough proof of that. However, they are a salient Republic in a region of kingdoms run by religeous fanatics. For the writer to say that Iraq poses no threat to the region, forgives his war with Iran, the incursion into Kuwait, the massing of troops on the Saudi border, and the launching of HE missiles into Isreal. Not to mention, it's early 80's work on a nuclear reactor, that wasn't big enough to produce power to it's citizens, but was big enough to produce fissible material for weapons. Israel knew this and took it out.
To say this battle is for oil is a joke, and not a funny one at that. The ignorant who spew this rhetoric conveniently ignore Al Gore's full connection to "big oil", and most of Klintons cabinet's connection to "big oil". Think about it, if this whole thing is about oil, why the hell aren't we already pumping the oil for ourselves, since we soundly stomped Saddams army, and took over much of Iraq and Kuwait's oil fields? Blood for oil? Not hardly, moron
The rest of the world has somehow forgotten the fact that Islamic murderers destroyed over 3000 lives in less than 2 hours, and also tried to take out the USA's military headquarters. The Pentagon attack alone is enough to go to war over, and the world knows it! The world also knows that we can, and will, win any battle we dedicate ourselves to. This has always frightened the world, because they can't do anything about it, and that's a good thing. I will always strive to keep the USA in a position of strength, rather than negotiate from the bottom....also known as begging for your life...and it ain't gonna happen here! Most of the world, especially the most vocal of our critics, have historically been ruled by kings, emperors, and dictators. Their citizens only know to cow to authority, to bend to anothers will, rather than stand up for themselves. We learned long ago, rise above mediocrity and meddlesome rulers, and have become the only superpower left on Earth. And that's a GOOD thing!
So, I believe in God, what business is it of YOURS who, what, or why? If Islamic thugs want to kill in the name of their version of God, I will defend myself and mine. If I must do that in some foresaken, backwater country on the other side of the world, than so be it. I will.
The USA has always believed that YOU must do for YOU, and it will allow you to do so. Nearly every other country doesn't allow free-thinking like us, and for that we get ridiculed. Well, laugh it up London, we are going to protect ourselves, and by doing so, will also happen to protect you too. So suffer the safety of our actions.
HOOAH, Dave
