this rumor has been floating around for years. And from what i hear, BE already owns a certain percentage of WGP.

Here is my "back end" info. I know 3-4 guys at Brass Ealge. At present, there are NO plans whatso ever to purchase WGP or any other manufacturer. Why? No need. BE makes plenty of money (there are more stingrays made so far than EVERY OTHER MARKER COMBINED) as it is. BE COULD have a upper level gun selling at 700+. They dont. That says something. BE doesnt want to go out and sell guns that cost $300 just to make a $50 profit on it all(a 1:5 profit margin--not good). They want to sell $50 guns that they can make $20 on(a 2:3 profit margin..VERY GOOD). Theres a reason they are the biggest company in the industry: they make what sells. whos hte next largest you ask? Not AGD...but the second most commonly knocked company: Kingman.

In short, BE makes their money on newbs. They dont want WGP nor do they wnat anything to do with WGP.

oh, btw, BE does NOT own ANY of WGP

And second: (i realized i had 5 extra minutes) A little common sense on BE's behalf

BE's quality in their conquests. BE made a mistake in the Revvies. FIrst, there was an issue int he odl molds for the width of the neck. they made new molds and got them back to the right size...but since VL had left that prolem there for years, everyone complained that BE screwed up the revvie when actually they were making an improvement. More recently, on the new bodies, BE made a mistake. They test hitting the hopper with weights and it passed that test with colors. They didnt realize the problem of the feed necks. In their R&D tests, it didnt pop up (somehow, although I have had 5 revvies come back with broken shells...so it does exist). JT however has remain virtually unchanged since the BE take over. JT's products are top notch and high quality.

As for their markers, you go try and make a functioning paintball marker for $20. Ill give you $20 to get some aluminum and plastic and make a functioning marker. I bet you cant do it. But, really that $20 is the retail price, so the wholesale price is...well...around 12-13. That means BE sells them for $12-13, and since I know they have a profit margin of ~5 on them, that means it costs $6-8 PER MARKER. Let me change that. Let me give you $8 to go buy aluminum, plastic and orings and you go have fun at a mill making parts all day long. a gun that costs BE $6.00 to make CANT BE THAT GOOD!

You dont expect a Dodge Neon to preform as well as a Porche. So why do people come in and tell me that a Blade sucks and their Angel rules? Yeh, it had damn well better be better...it cost 50 times as much as mine did! I sure hope your's works better!

The BE Stingray is one of the most tried and true markers around. With more Stingrays in existance than EVERY OTHER marker COMBINED, it obviously works. Does it work as well as the Fly IR3 Angel? no. its also a 8(i think, maybe 7 or 9) year old design with no real changes(went from a 11" to a 6" barrel and changed body plastic type) since it was first produced. Its made cheaply because it sells cheap. It doenst cost a fortune to build. It cant!

Customizing? Come check out the boys at BEOG(Brass Eagle Owners Group: http://www.beog.org). I work at the site, and there are tons of great mods there.

Looks like it was just a rumor. That is a good thing. There is a guy I play with that swears by his Stingray. He even has other markers but always returns to his Stingray because he thinks it is the most accurate (because of the way the co2 attaches).

Also I hear the evolutions are pretty darn good as well. Others of our group play with Spyders and love them. I know that my mag outperforms all of their markers (especially with level 10) but then I've paid for the performance increase. In woods/rec ball the increase in performance is not critical (300 fps is a limit after all) but it was worth it to me to spend the extra money. Still there is nothing wrong with their purchases. It is all what your priorities are. Some of these same friends have big screen TVs or $1000 car stereos. Obviously these things outperform my factory installed tape deck. It is all priorities....

I was considering getting a Stingray for purpose of being able to laugh at high-end gun owners after you shoot them.

I've had numerous kills where I thought to myself... I could have done the same thing with a Talon Pump.

Kill with BE entry gun = ultimate bragging rights.

While I have no place bashing BE, they changed the foam on the new flex-7s. The old foam rocked and had little JT thingers on there and is hella comfy. The new foam is only on the top and bottom (no foam on the part closest to the corner of your eye), itches, and is about as thick as a pencil.

Otherwise, I've seen some pretty kick arse rainmakers

True words there have been a few changes here and there but one thing i want to point out, you dont see anyone ragging on dynasty because they are sponsored by JT and basic BE company now do ya? I'll admit I dislike BE but that day i got my first blade i was the happiest kid in the world.

Ultimator, you can get replacement foam for your Flex-7's. I got some a while back and I ended up not having to replace mine...but they were nice and thick and cheap too. I forget what site had them but they are still out there somewhere.

Again, not trying to flame anyone, but maybe thats why they dropped $10 in price shortly after BE bought them(yes, i do mean in wholesale price, not just demand price at www.BIG INTERNET STORE.com)

I got this from Rob Orr:

                              Dave,
WGP has recently moved into a new facility in Corona CA. We
have no intentions on selling out to anyone. WGP is still a family business
and will continue to be so. This rumor has been floating around for years.
We find ourselves in the midst of rumors on a weekly basis and we can only
smile and be amused at the false information being spread around the
                              internet. Long live the Cocker.

                              Robert Orr
