Reffing is Dangerous

I was reffing today at a friends house. Woods ball you no bunch of guys with low class markers. I guess people think its funny to shoot refs when they have shields One game I was just kinda of sitting waiting on one team to enter the woods and I guess these guys where color blind if my bright orange shirt didnt tell them. I caught 3 in the side and one in the wrist (not includeing the 4 i took in the arse the one time i played but thats a different story). It kinda hurt be I had alot of fun. Just figure i would post this up.

Yeah, when you play with friends that have no skill, the ref shooting is the highlight of their day.

One thing to watch out for when you ref. Try not to stare directly at players. In rec ball it can give their positions away and some will shoot at you for it. Doesn't sound like that's what happened but hey, I thought I'd throw that in.

"hey, I can hit the broad side of a barn. Time to move on up to bonus balling the ref! In a couple of weeks I might even be able to hit an opponent."

Reffing newbs isn't that bad. When they shoot you, they don't know that you didn't realize it and they apologize for it. Whenever I ref at team practices, the players have about as much regard for the refs as they do for the stakes that hold the bunkers upright. If I get hit five times because I look like a player (yea, The yellow/orange Jersey and the blaze orange shield is really hard the see), they don't even ask if I'm alright after the game. That's one reason I don't play for a team.

Yea see that is un called for. The only time I will shoot a ref on purpose well not on purpose per say, is when I'm shooting in my lane. I'm not gonna stop to let them go through but thats the reason for the shield.

You use refs when you play outlaw ball? We usually play the honor system when it is a game amoungst friends. That and the threat of a nasty bonus balling bunkering for cheaters!

Occupational hazard. When I ref at Blackrain Paintball, I take at least 3 hits per game. I also carry a PT Exreme out to the field in case some one feels like intentionally lighting me up. That will get them off me. But yeah, expect to take hits, that's the name of the game.
