First off...SUICIDE IS NOT THE ANSWER! You said you wanted to start a new life, ending your life will keep you from doing so. I know my ex-gf was a manic depressant who suffered a rough childhood and social anxiety disorder. She's still having a difficult time of it. However, the most important part is that you don't give up.

One way you can start is to look over your life. Pin point the problem areas and come up with solutions on how you can possibly change it. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask other people. We're all human and sometimes we need the help and support from others.

Secondly, don't be ashamed or be afraid to open up to others about your problems. Holding it inside will only make things worse. Talk to people! Heck, talk to me if you can't find anyone else who's willing to listen. I can't stress it enough to know you're not alone and your problems will pass you by.

Thinking back at my ex-gf...what she lacked most was support and a sense of self worth. I've always encouraged her to find something she enjoys doing that's creative. To me, that's important because that gives you something to be proud of. A sense of self worth. Don't rely on others to make you happy, happiness should come from within.

Hang in there buddy...the clouds will pass. You just have to rough out the weather right now. Trust me, it gets better! Just don't give up on yourself.

First, like who you are. You must like yourself of all people, because you are you. Secondly, don't compare yourself to others. If your always comparing yourself to people who you think (but aren't) better than you, you'll be down all the time because you'll be think your nothing compared to them. Find friends who you share something in common with, being the way you dress, your personality, etc. Join clubs, meet people that way.

If it's truly serious, not just a mood or time your going through, tell your parents. They'll help you, they won't just send you to a wacko house. Things like this happen to many people, it's not uncommon. They'll only help you. There's even pills you can take that can help with depression. Talking to someone about it in person can help.

Hey, GOOD LUCK! The simple fact that you asked for help means you've taken the first step in solving your problems! If you find it hard to talk to your parents, talk to your friends who will take you seriously. Talk to people who will actually listen.

Also, if there's no one you can talk to at the moment, keep a journal of your deepest thoughts and feelings. Even if you can't let it out verbally, at least you can let it out on paper.

          Again...DON'T GIVE UP!

Also, if I continue to feel depressed, I think I will talk to my parents.

Good for you. Be aware that most people have no idea of what it is all about, this could also include your parents. Because of this, they don't know what to do about it... and often say or do the wrong things. People with these problems often have to teach others how to deal with them if they really want to be helpful.

Contemplating suicide frequently is really unhealthy. It can lead to things like: Why worry about going to school? Why go to work? Why bother?... I'm going to be dead anyway, so what's the point. Why not spend excessively? Oops, I failed a class. Oops, I lost a friend. Oops, I did something stupid. Oh well... I'll be dead anyway, I just haven't got around to it yet.

See a therapist. If things become unmanageable... medication can really help take the edge off.

Don't be embarassed or think you're weak or something. For some reason, intelligent people seem to have the most problems with depression and stuff... people don't have these problems because they are dumb or something... although it doesn't seem to make sense. But that's what it is... it doesn't make sense... because the brain isn't working right... I personally think of it as your brain being a bit miswired... and that's really not too far from the truth.

That might be a problem, is that I think its embarassing. Like, I dont want my parents to think its their fault or something, when its not. Hmmm thats interesting, intelligent people have the most probs with depression

                            glad your doing better!!

i was feeling depressed and i came to AO for help and boomer drank my depression away for me!!

anyways, just keep your head up and remember that tomorrow is what YOU make it(dang thats so cliche...)

and also, find something you like, whether it be music or paintball or programming or math or whatever and always have something to get your mind off of your depression, while its not a permanent fix it helps in the really low points.
