i know with film cameras if you use a long shutter time and the person is moving it will do that. i could never get it the way i wanted it when i tryed.

my best guess is the picture is a combination of the camera choosing a long shutter time and thee fact that she was moving.

anyway. its a very interesting picture. between the transparentness the girls red-eye, and the cats glowing eyes it is kind of errie but very interesting.

That appears to be the shadow of the TV, with some sort of bowl on top of it...

As for the original post, if I had to guess, I would say it was photoshopped. But...I suppose it could have been caused by alot of movement (we're talking her entire upper body) and a really slow shutter speed. I wouldn't go as far as saying that she is not reflected in the TV screen...there is a pretty questionable area(some sort of blob) at the corner of the table, that is most likely her.

But like I said...it looks to me like someone is playing a little joke.

        Nice television, by the way.

hmm a friend of mine is a photographer and in one pic, it was something like that, but not exactly. He explained something about the light going behind the object and reflecting back. I really wasn't paying attention to him, just caught a few words.

edit: gaah the more i think about it, the more it dosn't make any sense...

edit: look at the magazines on the table and that Palm. Notice the ghosting? I believe you were moving the camera when you took the pic, but i dont think that would create such an image like the result. Seems like her whole upper body is transparent.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH that is frickin creepy!!!!! the only thing i can relate is something very similar that happened to me...except it was one of those one-time-use cameras, and somehow it took a second picture without me winding it after the first one...same creepy effect...
AACK the more i keep looking at it the more frequent i turn around, ready to shoot anything behind me...look what you've done!!

Heh, my ex was a pro photographer...we used to screw around and make "ghost" pictures. It has to do with movement, shutter speed, and the lighting...I dont remember exactly, but it is pretty easy to forge them. You just did it accidentally!!! Hell, send it in...or sell the pic on ebay!

Here's a hint: Red Eye Reduction, use it, live it, love it.

BTW, that's an awesome pic, if also a bit freaky.

...Or use an SLR A photo like that isn't difficult to make. Were you using a tripod?

What it looks like, is that you were unintentionally using a low shutter speed. If you look lower at your daughter's legs, you'll see that they are pretty solid, most likely because her legs were not moving.

her face and body were moving, so what was behind her got exposed on the CCD, making it look like she's transparent.

If you used a flash, that might have a little to do with it too.

she could have been bent over and then sat up while you were taking the picture, it would explain the transparency. She could have sat up at the split second the camera started to take the picture.
