I agree the number of sig images has increased - but until I hear alot of complaints, I wish users to beable to express their individuality by using them.

Riotz - those are called avatars - our site does support them - I dont allow them. Why? because they are kept on this server and would increase the load on the server. Maybe not so much that it would hurt anything at this point - but eventually, yes it would slow things down. Paintballcity.com had some issues with thier avatars...

For once I can agree with Thordic, I think that sig images are fine if they are of a reasonable size. If people start using images that are really huge they will slow down even the high speed connections. Webmaster if it comes down to the fact that you have to put a ban on images in the sig's I think everyone here will understand.

Riotz- It's VB, which is what we are on, that allows you to have the icon below your name. Otherwise known as an avatar. We decided not to allow avatars because of the load on the site and having to moderate what avatars are acceptable. Shartley's images are a heck of a lot better than most of the avatars I see people using on forums like PBNation, PBC, etc. Since people like this theme, that's fine by me, at least they're not using pics that we need to delete for offensive content. People are starting to figure out that since they can't have avatars, they can put an icon in their sig, hopefully people will stick to the current theme or keep their icons in line so that we don't have to start deleting people's sig images or turn off sigs all together.

Maybe if these images in the sig get out of hand (when almost everyone has one) then you should go with the avatars. This way you can control the file size of them. Keep them around 2kb in size. Just an idea for the future.

Right now the sig images are 10k and the width and height can be anything. With the avatar you can control all of that, right? Since, I think someone said, they would be hosted on this server.

Or, you could just spank people who use large images. =DO


Suggestion: maybe add something to the rules, (if there isn't something like this already) that sets the height, width and file size of signature images.

Well, isn't any talk about making NEW rules a bit premature at this point? It was identified that there is a way an individual user can turn off the Signatures, and that should take care of that issue as it stands.

Also Webby already stated he will watch to make sure noone abuses the privilege of using Signature Images. Seems pretty fair to me.

And I think I should make a clarification on something... Just because someone is able to do many things at once, does NOT necessarily mean that they have loads of FREE time. It means they are more efficient and probably have LESS free time. So if anyone would like to insinuate anything else about me, they can kindly keep it to themselves.

As for all the other issues, I think we all see clearly what the deal was.

I for one think this issue is resolved.

Shartley, do you ever shutup? I was just making a suggestion. Nothing is premature. This rule wouldn't hurt anyone. It would just set guidelines. Not everyone realizes that a 50k image takes awhile to load for most people.

It will also help webbie out because then people will know how to create their images.

Looks like a FLAME to me. Unless you are saying that only you or those you deem worthy are allowed to post their opinions or thoughts on matters.

Seems I did not attack you with that post, or any Post as a matter of fact... but you continue to do so to me. I am not the only one who can identify Passive Aggressive posts, inferences, and in this case a bold rude and uncalled for comment.

Like you and others like to say to me all the time... maybe you should learn to be nicer to people, a bit more friendly, or perhaps if not, don't post? But funny how those who keep saying those things keep posting whatever they like and actually help AO members less. Or maybe it is NOT so funny?

OK...all has been said and its starting to get personal. As to the Signature Image thing. I said it. Webby said it. And BlackVCG said it... As long as its only a few complaints and its not realy a big problem and there is a solution for those that might percieve it as a problem there is not a need for more rules. Everyone should watch what they use and use them sparingly.

Enough already. Get on with your lives and lets talk about Paintball and such. Everyone should be happy and this subject is pretty well finished. This other stuff is purely personality confilicts. Not the problem it was stated to be in this thread. And yes it is becoming a Flame. It's time to move on to another subject.
