AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
We need nutso protestors. While this one is a little strange does anyone seriously think that the world would be better without Green Peace? When you argue about their effectiveness you have to realize that their budget is extremely limited compared to their opponents.
There has to be that element of society that is willing to go up against the powers that be and bring attention of wrong doing of large corporations to those of us in the norm.
I suppose some of you figure that the companies would take care of themselves without some of the watch dog groups. There would be no over polluting right? Of course no one would fix energy prices to screw over the consumers for their own profit either right? (Note sarcasm).
We need these groups like Green Peace. Most of us don't have the guts or commitment to go through what they go through for no personal profit.

you've totally missed the point of the discussion. most people here have said there is nothing wrong with protestors. it is their right to protest. the problem here is that protestors have gone to a foreign country that is a potential enemy in an effort to prevent Americans from bombing Iraqi targets. this is by definition an act of treason. it is aiding and abetting the enemy. i see no issue with the massive protest that is scheduled to take place in NYC(so long as they've acquired the proper permits).

Did you read the thread before you posted. Everyone here has said that we can respect the rights of the protesters here! Going into the lions den is another story. You can't cry if you get bit. What these morons are doing is trying to act as human shields against US bombs. That is not protesting, that is aiding and abetting an enemy of our country. That is treason. Let's give these idiots what they want and bury them next to their Iraqi "brethren"!

Yes I read the posts. The posts that I was responding to was the snide comments on groups like Green Peace.
I will confess that Shartley has a point. One of the reasons I hate contributing to "non profits" is I don't trust how they are going to allocate the money. It is human nature to start funneling money to your own personal interests. I am no better.
I'll also concede on the Green Party a bit. I used to go to the meetings as a young idealistic college student until I started noticing that everyone was there to advocate their own personal uncompromising positions and not willing to listen to any other point of view.
That being said, however, we need these sort of organizations. No they are not perfect but what is? They are a necessary evil for the common good.

After all this is over and IF they survive then I say we keep them away from the US. It's one thing to protest, I mean after all that's why being an American is all about right? Freedom of speech. It's another to help the enemy. A little thing called treason comes to mind. I'm sure the Iraqis are loving it. They also don't seem to realize that this war isn't against the Iraqi civillians but mostly against Saddam. They ALSO don't realize that by standing there they could make one of the soldiers hesitate by thinking "Wait, those are Americans" and end up getting their own people killed. They also don't seem to care that Iraq has ties with Al Queada (sp?) and that they are most likely planning more terrorist attacks made to follow 9/11.
*EDIT* Something I heard listening to Rush Limba (sP?) he said that democrates are saying things like "Bush is a liar" and" This isn't good" because they say they are going to do one thing in their campain and when they are in office they do something else. Bush said he do things and when he got in office he started trying to do them so the democrates believe that everyone does it the way they do so they call Bush a liar. And he said that someone said that one of the best thing about Bush is that when he speaks people get it on an intellectual and emotional level which is rare. I personally like Bush (I'm a Texan).
what i meant is those 3.500 civilians where living in an oppressive government. i just find it sad and ironic ... the taliban had to be taken down. i am just a little sad...because even if they where callatoral damage.

How does Afghanistan hate us more? The schools are reopened, people are not under the thumb of the Vice-Police. We are rebuilding their country. Maybe the extremists hate us more, but they hated us already!
Do you think the Iraqis want to live under Saddam's iron fist? Maybe they would rather live in a free land where they could protest like we do here. Try a protesting against Saddam in Iraq and guess what you're dead.

Now don't get me started....
As for Afghanistan I think that they are happy we took out the Taliban (for the most part). Now we have to follow through with our reconstruction committments to them.
